It made me
faster computer!!

How I did it: using the toshiba factory reset disk, I had to sit here for about three hours waiting for it to finish. I was worried about screwing up, but I followed instructions to a T so it worked out nicely.
Lessons & tips: BACK UP, BACK UP, BACK UP!!!
also, make sure you know which programs you installed that didn't come with your computer. I have to reinstall office 2007, and ALL of my sims games.
Resources: Toshiba factory upload discs, 2 SD cards, a flash drive, and photobucket to upload pictures and videos to. :)

I’ve been meaning to reformat my desktop for ages ever since I got my laptop, but it’s soooo tedious. Do I even need to back up all those papers my freshman writing class or that 3 second video of Matthew from 6 years ago? I have even more useless items in my documents that I’m too lazy to go through, so I’m just copying everything to my external HD so I don’t have the mental hassle of sorting through the junk. :D Then I can just pass it on to my next desktop, and the next…

I took the plunge, and finished this goal.
If you’re formatting and going to reinstall Windows, I would definitely recommend checking out nLite beforehand.
It allows you to change the default setup on your Windows installation… before you actually run the installer disc! This has 3 huge benefits:- no garbage apps to uninstall from your base system (I’m looking at you, MSN Messenger)
- security updates like service packs and hot fixes are installed “out of the box”, with no trip over to windowsupdate.com
- you’ll have a reusable Windows install CD with benefits #1 and 2 for every time you go to format your hard drive
This is an awesome software product and helped me a ton with this goal.
The most annoying part of this was finding the device drivers for my system. NVidia and Creative’s websites suck!
