quitejaded feels useless and a failure
How I did it: It started with the school's requirement. I had to take intro to logic. I found that it was pretty easy. On top of that, philosophy has always been a child hood hobby of mine. So I took another class. And another. And yet another. And so now I am majoring in it. LOL.Its really easy. If you don't know what to major in, but want people to think you're smart, do philosophy. Pick the best professors and get an easy degree with a good reputati… Read how I did it…

How I did it: I enrolled in a bachelor of arts, and studied philosophy as my major. I wasn't really driven to any specific field, but it led me to some pretty interesting places, and some pretty awful ones too. Whilst studying existentialism, I got depressed, but I got over it.The toughest part was doing my last few months of uni, I was over uni life, and sick of thinking about weighty stuff. In the end I just had to finish it, but truthfull… Read how I did it…

How I did it: I signed up for a college Philosophy course at my community college. I love it so much I am planning on possibly majoring in philosophy and becoming a college professor. It is my favorite course this semester. Read how I did it…

Just in my spare time. I really love reading about it and discovering new things. I think philosophy is one of the best ways to broaden your mind, and become more open-minded to others ideas. Although I’m still working on it.
I’ve always thought about going to school for philosophy but I’m not sure what kind of jobs, besides teaching, it may offer.

the things i don’t want to do, are the ones that matter

Maybe sometimes doing the right thing doesn’t feel right-

life is a series of experiences, ups and downs if you will. That’s positive and negative experiences, life becomes difficult when one of them outweighs the other. When you have more negative experiences than positive ones, more downs than ups, you become down, or unbalanced as it were. if you have more of one than the other, work on changing it. If you have more downs, go out and have more positive experiences, this is the key to life. Downs create a downward spiral, and breed an inner landscape of despair, ups change this- something as simple as going for hikes with a parrent or sibling, or friend, is an example of positive experiences

what I want from other people is what they want from me
This Summer, I got a few books to start studying on my own. I then enrolled in an Intro to Philosophy class at the local college. I love it. The class is challenging, the assignments are not easy by far, and there’s a LOT of reading involved. But I LOVE it, thus far.
Kashur Leveling my Mage.
I know that philosophy is something that you learn yourself as life ticks on. But I am curious as to what other philosophers have written about and can teach me.
I spent most of my life reading works of fiction, But I would like to read more Neitzche, Descartes, Wittgenstein, and Derrida. Not really interested in Plato and Socrates very much. As I have read some of their works. I’ve also revelled in a lot buddhism, But too me Buddhism is sort of a reminder of common sense to me. There’s nothing wrong with that to me, In fact I think that humans need that occasional reminder.
I’m Very interested in Nihilism.
So, time to go book shopping.

When I get out of the Coast Guard and go back to school I’m going to double major in Philosophy/Pre-med. It just seems like a better use of my time than just taking biology classes.

ac_195 asks,
“My family and I got into this heated argument about me taking philosophy. More than likely, the professor will try to disapprove creation. I want to take it b/c I’m so analytical. I'm already on the verge of losing my faith. What should I do?”
