I've been to two, actually 4 years ago

One locally that’s called The Breakfast Club; that one was so not worth it. Neither my friend nor I recognized a single one of the songs they were playing, there were all of about two dozen people there, and nobody was dancing or interacting. The guys were against one wall, women against the other like some sort of junior high school dance. What’s worse is they charged a $12 cover AND a (totally unnecessary) valey parking fee. We left after about 20 minutes. It was that bad.

The other was called Catz (or maybe Cats) and was in either San Francisco or one of the towns neighboring it. I’m not 100% sure it was 80s all the time - might have just been one night a week - but it was so great. They played lots of Billy Idol and Thompson Twins and Depeche Mode. Unfortunately I can’t remember a large chunk of the night I was there, thanks to several drinks called the “Randy Special” which were apparently chock-full of tequila. Tequila is not my friend.

Still, if I’m ever in the SF area again, I’d love to go back to that place.

Hey, I went to an 80’s club….in the 80’s. Does that count?

Last year I went to Culture Club in NYC to see Deborah Gibson perform. I don’t dance, and I wanted a front row spot, so I hung out by the stage for many hours prior to the start of the show. It was a lot of fun, and there was plenty of good music being played before Deb came on, but I don’t think I’d go again unless I suddenly developed rhythm and an urge to dance :)

Just curious.. 4 years ago

...if I’ll enjoy better a New Wave/New Romantic/SynthPop/80’s Gothic/Dark Eighties clubs than all the contemporary Electronic and R&B Clubs.

I plan on checking such a club soon at Tel Aviv.
