day 3 again 13 months ago

another beautiful morning! I picked some large daisies when I was out this morning and felt a bit like a Jane Austen heroine! Onwards to health!

brekkie: porridge and banana

bento: onigiri, ochra and egg “jumble”, grape-celery-cucumber salad, cheery tomatoes, fish

tea: ramen shop :/

water water water

Day 2 (yet again) 13 months ago

I think I just had a revelation! I thought about buying chocolate on the way home, and then I thought, “but this is silly! this is just buying it out of habit!” and then I listened to my body, and it really didn’t want it!!

It was all going so well 13 months ago

until the weekend!!

K came round bearing chocolate almonds and old episodes of Poirot on a usb stick, and it would have been nothing short of rudeness to refrain from guzzling them all! Wouldn’t it?
However, I redeemed myself at the picnic when he selected “dangerously cheesy cheesoes” and I countered with “seaweed coated nuts”. I’m sure the iodine content was still nothing to brag about, but I like to pretend I actually embraced health by scoffing two packets.
And of course, those several gin and tonics and champagnes can only have helped matters!

Back on the wagon as of tomorrow.

I still have two individually wrapped chocolate almonds in my cupboard, and I can hardly be expected to leave them there for an entire week!

day 4 13 months ago

K is coming to stay tonight and then camping tomorrow, so I must be extra extra careful not to fall off the wagon in social circles!

Today:

porridge with banana

handful of nuts as snack on the inevitable 11 am hunger gong

gnocci with celery, tofu, grape, mikan, walnut, spinach salad

unknown food at restaurant this evening.

Water, water of life!

And possibly a tipple of red wine (for coronery purposes, of course)

Day 3 13 months ago

No time for a picture this morning folks! For some reason I was buzzing like a bluebottle last night and COULD NOT sleep until well past midnight, which pushed getting up at 5 over to the lesser side of likely.

sate, kyou ha nani wo tabemashou ka?

Omelette (2 eggs with both yolks; you only live once after all) with grilled fish, green pepper and mushroom
Half a pink grapefruit
Green tea

Water
Yuzu tea

Soba noodles (I made them by hand at the weekend, so I can’t vouch for their tastefulness), hastily chopped pile of tomato and spinach I’m hoping to pass off as salad.

Water, water, water! Must quench excessive thirst!

Rest of the pumpkin and sweet potato soup, walnut/celery/spinach/grapefruit salad, left over soba noodles

day 2 13 months ago

Successfully navigated the food shopping yesterday without an illicit substance in sight! Got a huge thing of locally grown celery at half price and am feeling rather smug about that. Note to self: google recipes involving celery.
Amazingly my bloating has pretty much vanished already! I’m sure that can’t all be due to not eating one day’s worth of chocolate, but it’s encouraging none the less!

Was quite hungry by about 11 yesterday so this morning I added some nuts to my porridge for protein.

Without further ado then, today’s non-detox menu is:

Porridge with banana and walnuts
Yuzu tea

Green tea / hot water X infinity

plum onigiri, a bit of fish, a cherry, grape/mikan sticks, tomato/spinach/beansprout/spring onion salad, miso soup

Water water water

Have to eat at the ramen shop because I’m working until 9…maybe see if I can get them to make child size kimuchi ramen? If not just get the normal size and leave half. Don’t drink all the broth!!

day one 13 months ago

The first day of a gruelling adventure into unknown blood sugar territory! Feel incredibly blase and over confident about the whole thing, but must remember not to accidentally fall into seven eleven and exit clutching a pack of those new strawberry and biscuit chocolate mushrooms.

Have just eaten brekkie and packed my bento and can confirm that today I am non-detoxing with

porridge and tinned mikan! MMMmm!
green tea

loadza water

crab sushi, pickled plums, grape and mikan on sticks, one cherry, cucumber and wakame salad, tofu.

more water

leftover pumpkin and red potato soup with a big juicy salad

the body 13 months ago

has been having a bad time of it of late, so it’s time to treat it lovingly and with a bit of well-earned respect. I just can’t bring myself to use the word “detox”
