Its a vintage cherry dulcimer . I haven’t recieved it yet . I am excited ! I play the Native American flute but wanted to try a stringed instrument . I am interested in the dulcimer to play some folk music . I am buying books , picks , an electric tuner and a very pretty toner on E Bay .I am already spending more than I had planed on and still want a stand , a case and a foot stool. Things to look forwards to I guess. I figure with the terrible weather we are having ,at least I will have some thing to do while stuck indoors .

...with the tabs. Sadly, I forget and stumble all over the fingering without them.
Still, it’s progress.
I have never played an instrument and I am a far cry from “musical.” I got inspired, however, to try my hand at learning the mountain dulcimer. I researched a little, found a cheap one on e-bay and I am off to a start. (Start meaning I have the thing and not that I understand at all how to play it) I ordered a few beginner’s books and the first one showed up yesterday. I started reading and I can’t wait to try some stuff out today. Wish me luck!
The mountain dulcimer makes beautiful music, whether fingerpicked or strummed, it’s simple to learn and very rewarding.
I bid on a mountain dulcimer on eBay, it was a really beautiful thing.
Soon, I chickened out. I remembered how lazy I am at practising with an instrument, and how many have fallen quietly by the wayside. I told my boyfriend what had happened, and he told me it was worse to give up on my deisre to play an instrument than it was to waste some money on an instrument that I never learn to play.
