Support special needs people in my community

The summer is here and that means another gathering with my SPARKY family!

One of my favorite things to do at camp is to make movies with them. With the campers as the characters we have remade, The Lion King, Peter Pan, and West Side Story! The easiest way to watch them is at my youtube site!

I recently got promoted at my camp this summer to Assistant Director. I’m super excited about it as it will allow me to make the changes to camp that I have always dreamed about since I started there about 5 years ago.

I recently got involved with a good friend of mine who is as passionate about change as I. Our main goal this summer is to give awareness to the camp and involve the special population into our community.

We plan to accomplish this with the main goal to produce a documentary about the camp, showcasing the campers and our struggles making a special needs camp work in the community.

Any ideas or support will be very much welcomed!
We are looking for people to help sponsor us, and our effort.

I have worked at a summer camp for children with special needs for the past four or five years now. This last summer the program was cut drastically, to the point that half the children were unable to come. The camp was then combined with a “normies” camp.
For many of these kids camp was one of the few things they had to look forward to. It was a place where they weren’t treated by their special needs but as regular children. I will be heart broken if the camp is not there for them.

I’d love to hear ideas or suggestions on what I should do to make sure this camp survives. The children become family to you after working with them for that many years. Any ideas, or even stories you’d like to share?
