I have been camping before but as crazy as it sounds, I really want to pitch a tent in our yard and sleep outside – without actually going anywhere. My hubbie thinks I am very funny but is happy to help me pitch the tent! :)

- Don’t leave open food containers around you, and especially don’t interpose yourself between your tent’s door and the food container unless you want to wake up in shock, awe, and eventually admiration at the sight of a marching ants freeway crossing your belly
- Therm-A-Rest ProLite sleeping bags do self-inflate, but you’re supposed to also blow air into them! Unless you want to sleep on 1-cm-thick sleeping pads
- Bring. Earplugs. Always. (I do that out of habit since apparently I can’t sleep in this grandfather-clock-ridden country without them).

This summer, to make me feel better about something, my mom bought me a tent. So I set it up in my backyard and invited one of my friends over to sleep in the tent. It was really hot, so we brought out a surge protector, a fan, my laptop, and some doritos. My kitten even decided to join us for a while. It kinda rocked hard.
you seirously can’t say that you’ve gone camping until you’ve actually slept in a tent, woken up and cooked your food over the fire. Nothing says summer like sitting around a campfire, mallows and graham crackers in hand, and telling stories and cracking jokes, while searching for shooting stars. My friends and I still try and go every summer! Definitely go with good friends, you won’t regret it (as long as you’re willing to rough it a bit!)

i went to this place – Outward Bound School in Lumut, Perak, Malaysia in january.
and we had tent sheets to work with.
the last time we set up a tent, it was the solo camp. -no talking to each other, etc. it was scary (but enlightening, somehow) when we had to gather and re-build our tents at the top of the solo site, because of some safety issues.
through out the whole ten days we only had to set up our tents about three times or so, since we went on different expeditions, and went back to the school.
when we camped, i couldn’t sleep properly; ants were in my pants, it drizzled a few times and it was (surprisingly) cold, a few monkeys went into our tent and slept by my friend’s feet and my friend kept kicking me at the solo site while i was wide awake listening to what i thought was strange people walking around us. -it was probably the monkeys. i hope.
but i had fun. and i love the outdoors. :)
It’s an interesting experience. Made me appreciate brick and wood houses, and understand how powerful nature is. I will never forget one night at an open-air festival. It rained so heavily that it scared me. Most of my tent experiences, however, were in the army, which is a different kettle of fish.
