with a business contact and a couple of other people he knows.

i’m looking forward to it :)

I also sent a text to a few people inviting them to join us, quite a few couldn’t come but it was good to be able to have people to invite :)

I’m definitely getting better at this & building friendships slowly but surely :)

twitter for social networking 2 months ago

has proven to be a good resource too- I’ve had 2 conversations on the phone/Skype with people I met through twitter last week- one in the UK and one in America.

and I’m building quite a fan base on twitter too- I’ve got 400 followers in the last 2 months!

I went to the social networking event 2 months ago

I was scared, I took ages to decide what to wear- quite frustrating as I’ve been on such a tight budget I haven’t bought one new item of clothing in over a year – that’s the way the cookie crumbles when one sets up ones own business!

I settled for a top that I bought over 2 years ago and never had the courage to wear- it’s open backed and slightly off the shoulder I wore it with cream cord jeans, was fairly happy with how I looked

I arrived late, got lost on the way there. I met one person who I’d met at business networking the night before, we chatted for about 5 mins then he headed off. i stood at the bar, seeing a couple of familiar faces of people that I got introduced to at the last event, but not really got chatting to so I didn’t feel confident about talking to them. I decided to stay at the bar, look friendly making eye contact as people came near and smiling, hoping that I’d see the opportunity to open a conversation.

It was nerve wracking but eventually a guy near by starting talking to me and that opened up a great conversation – and he’s a potential client- awesome!! :)

then i went to the ladies room and there were 2 ladies talking at the mirrors and i joined the conversation (very brave thing for me to do) it started off a really great conversation with a lovely girl – who it turns out I know her brother & a friend of hers, and she knew my name through facebook – very nice connection. She told me about a wakeboarding weekend coming up and we’ve now connected on facebook :)

things are moving along on this front, I’m just keeping on getting myself out there despite the nerves & fears. Most people who know me would never think it but when i’m not in a place where I know people, or i don’t have a defined role I am chronically shy.

However my determination is stronger than my shyness so I am building connections and starting to build friendships.

    :)

Today I was in a tight spot, 3 months ago

couldn’t get through at all, it felt miserable. I came online here and expressed how I was feeling, I got positive loving support from my 43t friends :) thank you !

I also reached out for help from 4 other people, and got it!!

    :)

the fact that I had 4 other people to reach out to signifies that I do actually have a network of support nowadays

    Yayyyy!!

I've made many new wonderful connections with wonderful 4 months ago

people since I set this goal, however the most fulfilling ones I’ve found are with people that live in the UK :(

I have got a social network now, that I never had before, and that was shown to me when I went away I was able to ask quite a few people and set up a rota to walk and feed my dogs while I was away :)

Tonight though I’m in on my own and I can’t help but think it would have been nice to go out and meet up with friends tonight.

Progres is being made :) and will continue…

Social network is developing nicely 7 months ago

the more networking I’m doing the more I’m meeting people that are becoming friends, which is great, they’re like-minded- we have things in common.
On Saturday night I attended Balbriggan Chamber of Commerce Christmas Ball and had a brilliant night, got chatting to the Irish Minister of food, he was a really lovely man.
I enjoyed dancing and won a christmas hamper :-)
