My best friend used to have a few rare, strange plants in her apartment and every time I went there I could feel the presence of life. I also loved how her plants seemed to be a part of her personality. Another respected elder in my community has a beautiful leafy green plant spiraling around her apartment and it looks so beautiful. Even though I have a child, I would love to have the responsibility and sense of purpose that comes with caring for plants. Unfortunately I think what it stopping me from this goal is that house plants are very expensive. Any advice?

How I did it: I just set aside money a little bit at a time, and then purchased my succulents at a garden center near my home. I got my Wandering Jew from the farmer's market in town, and the begonia from a family grocery. Read how I did it…

My dogs destroyed my garden, I have to have plants inside the house.
This makes five and I’m really happy! I was trying to have plants in my line of sight no matter where I am in the room. Now I get to see this plant when sitting in my comfy chair. I have satisfied that preference. It sits atop a tall bookcase and there is room for a couple more up there. I intend to fill it up.
Unfortunately, I’m not sure what kind of plant this is, aside from being a “tropical plant.” The plastic plant marker stuck in the soil wasn’t more specific.
After wanting to have some more plants in my room for a long time, I finally went for it and bought two plants today! One is a Hedera Ivy and the other is a Copper King cactus. That makes a total of four plants! My other plants are a palm and an aloe vera.
I didn’t realize that the cactus is supposed to grow to six feet tall. I’ll have to do some rearranging before that can happen. If it does grow that much, it won’t be able to sit on my windowsill all nice and tidy like it does now. And the man at the store says it will need to be repotted before too long.
The plants I already had have given me so much pleasure. I believe, the more the merrier! It will be a learning experience, for sure. There may be more spots to place plants, if I choose to get even more.

I sat on my front porch & re-potted the new mother-in-laws tongue plant into the nice new glazed white pot I just bought. Looks good! Also re-potted a nice little compact jade plant that I’d bought recently. I love plants. Think I’m up to eight in house now.

Today is my birthday and I got my final plant as a gift from my mum. It’s a beautiful little red rose bush :>
I might still get more and more plants but as for now this goal has been achieved!

My niece gave me a Chrysanthemum today! :> It’s pretty!
She thought that since it was mother’s day and she was bringing my mum something, I should get something too “since Emilia’s almost a woman now!” :D Aww, how cute!

with the amount of plants I have currently. That doesn’t mean I won’t ever add more, I probably will, but I don’t think I need to keep this as an active goal any longer.
