Don't paint by numbers. Eschew the forced march and industrial discipline. Lift my nose from the grindstone. Embrace nonlinear progress, serendipity, inspiration, worthwhile distractions, and eclectic input.

Because I’ve done this all my life, most often to a fault, and it was always discouraged. Now, in adulthood, in a lot of my life’s areas, it is still discouraged. I am thrilled to see this goal in the zeitgeist! That means someone else in the world is doing it, which means I’m not really a freak. :)
