- Pack up all of the things that I’ll need for Tennessee while I’m there for a year
- Also, something that I do want to do: try and keep my creative mind flowing this month and get somewhere with my story.
How I did it: Each month I picked a goal & wrote a short entry about what I was going to do about it. I set a monthly reminder in my calender to update my goals.
Lessons & tips: That worked pretty well. Might have been an idea to set a weekly reminder in my calendar to remind myself to keep at it.

Well, I was right about last month. And this month there will also be a certain amount of just looking after myself.
But also, I’m going to practice my new (well, newly tuned) ukulele for at least 20mins at least twice a week. Pity my husband and neighbours :)
Close observers (of which I’m pretty sure there are none) will notice that I’ve now gone over my stated 12 months for my 12 goals. But. You’ll forgive me, right?

This month is, one way or another, going to be a real toughy. So my goal is just to treat myself really well for a month… try to eat well, meditate occasionally, get some exercise, not take on too much, and generally cut myself some slack. Be grateful that I have some amazingly lovely people looking out for me. Who knows, maybe I’ll even get a haircut at last.

Last month went really well (although Lent’s not over yet and I want to keep improving my presentation skills, so I don’t get to mark any goals as done).
Seems kind of wrong having a work-related goal, but it’s something I need to do so…
In a months time I will have a “this is me” website I can point people at. And Twitter doesn’t count :)

This month I’m going to:
- work on my public speaking by working-up and delivering (to someone at least) a short maths talk I’m working on
- keep up with my lent resolution
I didn’t do as much writing as I planned last month… just a very little. But I’ll be very happy if I manage to make up for it by completing these two goals this month.

We’re getting there with saving money, so it’s time for this month’s goal.
My aim is to write 2 short essays / articles about anything that interests me.

Not such an exciting goal this month, but a necessary one.

So, last month was not great to say the least but I did manage to cook my minimum of 2 new dishes and very nice they were too :) Both from The Guardian’s New Vegetarian recipes.
This month I’d like to take a step towards writing a puzzle adventure book – probably my silliest goal. My aim is to put aside an hour a week to do some work towards it. This could be used to:
- get my notes together in one place and get them organised (I do love filing)
- begin to put together a gallery of puzzle styles and good examples
- learn about / practice the kind of drawing I’ll need
- sketching / filling out my ideas for plots and characters & doing research around these
Lots of fun things.

This month looks quite busy so I’m setting myself a relatively easy target: to cook 2 new recipes this month (and more if I get the chance).

Just because it feels like a good time to try this. I’m not intending to write anything I’d want to make public … just give myself at least 15 minutes writing about whatever comes to mind.
