We don’t currently have plans to go camping, but maybe memorial day weekend or sometime this summer we’ll go. I will just have to remember not to be lazy, and to tell Chris that I want to take care of the fire myself. It would be nice if we had friends who liked camping, but I really don’t think we do. Oh wait, Adam and Katie love camping. I will suggest a trip the next time we get together.
Learning to build a fire is a very rewarding, not to mention fun. I was a girlscout forever and can build useful fires in varieing weather conditions.
Idea: If you are trying to start a fire in wet conditions, try using a candle with your tinder. The candle has more of a chance of catching the kidleing on fire.
A successful fire isn’t really that big a deal. A deep and wide bed of coals under the fire actually does most of the work. So if you wanna cheat, light some charcoal and anything you throw on it will burn.
