Throw a dart into a map and travel to where it lands

The first thing I want to do when I get out of college is throw and go. This is where you hang up a map on a piece of cork board and throw a dart at it and thats where you go. I want to do this every 6 months for 3 years before I settle down in a serious job.

To have the money and freedom to do this would be in itself an achievement.

This sounds like a wonderful goal. :)
I just hope I will have the money one day to travel (I’ll also need to buy a map and a dart.)

..I’d like to take my husband somewhere random that epitomizes our love. :)

So as I am able to use public transport for free in my state, I decided to try it out just for my state.
The dart landed on Rheinbach. So I hope that I will be able to go there during the next weeks. Its about three hours away…

Gotta find that one place where i can be happy i guess.

Thank you for whoever gave me this idea, it’s great and I can’t wait to see where I end up with this game.

But it’s not going to happen in the near future. Well, of course I could just find a map of my own country and not the entire world. And just go for a day or two. I’ll think about it.

Thank you to all of you who have now made this my most cheered goal ever. I think this goal is really interesting…just waiting on money and time (aren’t we all)...oh and I need a dart still. What a great story this would be someday!

I cannot wait until the day when I unfurl that huge world map, close my eyes and hurl a dart into that thing, book a plane ticket, couple nights hotel, and just GO…

I will do it after i complete soem other prominent goals, this is like one of the most interesting goal;s i have coem across, i love travel, an dit can’t get any better,.

It landed in the ocean… now what?

This sounds like such an awesome idea when time and funding allow! File this in the someday file.

deliberately super-glue magnets to the tip of the dart and to the area in the map I want to go to (see my “Visit 11 Wonders of the World” entries), so that when I throw the dart at the map, the magnets will attract each other! Ta-da!

It’ll work like a charm.

Travel is one of my goals, and what a great way to pick a destination…but is it okay to ‘do over’ if the dart lands in Afghanistan? Or Kansas?

I’d love to do this…I’m going to try this out tomorrow to see where the dart lands!

Just a tad less spontaneous than I wanted the whole thing to be, but the end justifies the means. And I never did specifify the time between the throwing and the going, so it’s still all good!

I had 3 goes. First was Takla Makan desert in China, then Wrangel Island off Siberia and then Democratic Republic of Congo. I’ve decided that rather than that I am going to go to Mauritius instead.

i’d like to do this but im afraid i will be really biased and throw it in the general direction of where i really want to go. oh well! i guess that would still count?
