How I did it: Eventually the timing was right to go, found a roommate and a place and I did it. Now i'm considering starting school again, and I have to find a new job. A friend helped me out with his van and got me off the island. I'm happy, but I will miss Victoria. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I moved into a cute little character house with two friends of mine. To make the situation feel more permanent I decorated my room and got a job at a toy store. I haven't been here for more than a month yet, but I know I'm going to stay. I'm so happy here. Read how I did it…

Yesterday my beau and I got in from BEAUTIFUL Olympic National Park, on the penninsula after spending a few days there soaking up the unworldliness! I Love WA, I really do, and I will miss it and its backwoods Jesus Burgers, and its subtler casualness… but I must say that last night was pretty rad!
We got in, put some stuff away and went for dinner (Yum Island Food, i MISS roti which for some unknown reason they are lacking in the western US!) and walked back to the barn (its a red house and has a meadow (park) in front, then had a nap before going out with my roommates to this dress up party they knew about. It was RAD! I don’t have any pictures, and we didn’t stay too long but it was put on by the ‘work less party’ (yep a political party) and WOW!
So I guess I’m fully moved in, i’ve now showered, eaten, slept, put away dishes and begun sharing with my very share friendly roommates and I start work on monday.
One of the BEST parts of coming up here, while they are all pretty freaking fabulous is the bit about having my own wheels for 2 days and driving myself up and back down, stopping when I wanted to and going through the tim hortons drive through… I never before have wanted or seen the promise of owning a car, but i might actually not hate the idea afterall. It was pretty fun/rad and I am a pretty good driver :)

I have booked my rental car for the move, and am excited to get my stuff all situated, to settle for a while. Its great to get a chance to go through things and weed out the clutter.
I’m excited for a new city, for a new walk to work, for a new favourite dive bar, and a new favourite drink.
Yay!
Now I just need my visa signed so i can get back into the us!

I’m hoping for a sublet this summer to get my feet in the door at the job i’m starting. I don’t know how long it will last beyond the summer or how much i will really like it once it starts but 3 months isn’t that long, and it will be nice to be out west for a summer away from the swelter of ontario summers. :)
I’m hoping to find myself a home for the summer this weekend on sataurday or sunday when i go up there on the bus. It sounds like i have a few options.
My fingers are crossed for a place living with some other young adults so i have a few ‘built in’ acquaintances hopefully within walking/longboarding/cycling distance to my job. :)
As I was planning to stay in the northwest, i went ahead and ordered my new goretext jacket this week so i’ll be ready for whatever the seabreeze wants to throw at me. :)
I never thought i wanted to move to vanc, but i’m gonna be excited about it darnit, maybe i’ll love it :)

So, I have shipped more of my stuff. Everytime I send another box of my lovely things I get even more exciting.
I also finally bought my plane ticket. My leaving date is Feb. 17th, a little later than I originally wanted to go, but I have prior commitments to attend to in town, so the 17th is the best date. Yay!
