I really want to spend a summer in England to see if I could truly live there permanently. How do I go about doing this? What do I need to just be there a whole summer? I also live in Texas. I love it here, its my home, but I really want to try Britain.
ive been to uk lots of times i just luv that country
its my dream to live in the uk
I talked to my husband about this a while ago and he seemed like he was for it. Then, I talked to him about it again the other day, and he was totally not for it. However, I am not going to give up yet. I still think it could happen after a few more years. We’ll see!
I want to do this within the next five years. I know that seems like a long time, but I need to finish school and get things in order before we can move. I really want to do this though!
Living in Texas is not really for me, no matter how hard I try to make it work. I want something different, and a bit more of an adventure. I’ve applied to a few jobs in the UK over the last couple of years; this year I will make a more concerted effort (although the academic job market there is weirdly cyclical, making it pretty difficult until the next REA is done).

KSliwoski asks,
“As a US citizen, can you work in London in low-skill jobs (waitress, bartender, etc) without a work permit?”
