All right so my partner, Devon, and I didn’t exactly finish. You are supposed to get 10 Chasepoints in 6 hours. We got 6 in six hours. We got on average of one Chasepoint an hour. That’s pretty bad. But! That being said, it was so much fun! It was a great experience and we definetly have something to work up from for next year.
Part of the problem is that we weren’t really racing. We didn’t run to any of the Chasepoints. Devon, which I found out the day of, has malignant hypothermia, which she said that if she gets heated up too much she “could die.” So as much as I can prepare for it, if your partner isn’t prepared then what can you do. Devon didn’t really fully realize what this event meant or how big it was so my major mistake was not making sure that she was prepared or understood what was to go on. I’m not upset but I did learn for next year. I’m also not against doing this again with Devon next year because it really made her realize how out of shape she was (well me too but I already knew how out of shape I was but didn’t really do anything about it so far) so we’ll both probably train a lot more for this next year.
