I should not be just content with weight control and proper diet.
I need to push my fitness to another level with more muscle and flexibility.
There are so many benefits if I keep this fit:
0. I feel more energized because workouts reduce fatigue and relieve stress;
1. I can pick up some sports I’ve only dreamed of doing, such as rock climbing;
2. When my kids become more physically active, I can keep up with them;
3. When my kids want to dive into an outdoor adventure, I will happily join them;
4. I will have fewer physical problems when I get older;
5. My clothes will fit better.

I’ve always been relatively small. But I had my son and ballooned. (My opinion) I went from being about a 2 to a 12. Well since then I’ve had my daughter (back to a 12 after), husband to Iraq (size 6), husband home (same), and husband back to Iraq (4). Now he’s out of the Army and we’ve moved back to South Carolina where I grew up. And I’m somewhere in between a 4 and 6. I know some people hate that I’m the size I am. My mom thinks I’m too small at times. I’ve always had issues with my weight. But now I don’t care what size I am or what I weigh as long as I am proportionate and tight. That’s what I’m trying to work on right now.

I am trying a new method this time. I am renewing my gym membership today and I am going to get up and take my dog for a walk every morning at the same time. I am also going to drink water every time I feel a nudge of hunger instead of snacking.

It’s hot, it’s humid, I’m lazy, and I just couldn’t workout today. I planned it. I even put on my tennis shoes, but I never got out the door. Ack…here’s to finding motivation tomorrow!

I’ve been hiking and running on occassion outdoors to try to get in shape, but alas it rained today. I was distraught over not being able to keep up my healthy plans until my sister told me I should try this Denise Austin workout DVD she had. It has three 15 minute workouts on it, and as the first one began it seemed like something for 90 yr olds recovering from heart surgery. Surprisingly after the workout though, I was a little sweaty and I can feel where I worked my abs and arms. Either I’m more out of shape then I thought, or those heart patients are fit! :)

I started a new lifting routine and I have been keeping up with it for the past 2 weeks. Its not too bad because you only actually go to the gym 2 days a week and jump rope on 2 others. You can find it at this site if your interested:

I started getting motivated. Hit the gym 2 days in a row before work. Hopefully I can keep this up.
