plan at least one trip a month outside of New Orleans this summer (for sanity purposes)

playing Peter, Paul, & Mary the whole way (just like we did growing up on trips to Ocean City, Maryland)
cheering when I crossed the border into Mississippi, first time I’ve left Louisiana since Christmas
lunch of a dressed fried shrimp po-boy and fries, ordered to-go and eaten on the beach
there is nothing along most of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, looks like no one ever lived there…three years later
not enough sunscreen, ouch
the Gulf of Mexico isn’t nearly as refreshing as the ocean-no waves, shallow a long ways out, warm as bathwater
beautiful white sand
left my purse, keys, wallet on the beach alone for half an hour and no one took them-yay for getting away from high-crime New Orleans
ArtWalk just happens to be the second Saturday of the month in Bay St. Louis
everyone was so friendly, can’t wait to go back
can’t believe this is just an hour from New Orleans

Yay for a comfy couch and homemade fudge and a pool and new friends and getting just far away enough from New Orleans for me to be excited about getting back “home.”
