Worth doing!

The cats are home from the vet.

Spaz has lost lots of weight in the last year, probably something like 4-5 lbs. She’s lots more active these days and doesn’t seem to be in the habit of running to the food bowl every time someone hurts her feelings anymore.

Eris didn’t puncture any of the vet techs, I’m really surprised. The techs at the S. Lamar place where the ex and I used to take the pets used to call her “Hell Kitty” and did NOT seem to like dealing with her at all (back when we did things like that, before he dumped all the household responsibilities and expenses on me and I just quit because I was overwhelmed & going further and further into debt trying to pull ‘my half’...)

I am glad to be getting back on top of my responsibilities and taking good care of my critters again. They did not deserve to suffer or be unhealthy simply because whatsisname was an ass and I was too sick and tired of his poor-mouthing bullshit to ask for help anymore. He made twice what I did and all he did for ‘us’ was pay the mortgage…but ANYWAY, that’s done and over. Fuck him and his Scottish wallet.

So, the cats are caught up on vaccines, have Advantage for the summer, and Eris has a prescription for Clavamox (antibiotics) because of all the scrapes and scratches she has from going outside and scrappin’ with the neighbor cats.

We stopped and said hello to the prettiest little parakeet on the way out the door. I put the cats’ carriers up to the bars and the ‘keet came over and said ‘hi,’ climbed on the bars, stuck its little beak thru and tried to either bite or kiss the kitties.

It was really a friendly, sweet little bird. Not in the least bit afraid of cats, which is worrisome! I don’t think we need a bird in this house full of mine & the housemate’s cats and other housemate’s dog. But it was an adorable little thing.

Got the cats home, gave them treats, gave Eris her first dose of Clavamox without ending up wearing any of it (go me!) And they don’t seem too unhappy with me, so that’s a plus.

It’s been a good, productive day.

Worth doing!

Perhaps the only clinic in Chicago run by a black female veterinarian. She was fantastic—very kind and thorough. My kitties got their shots and a clean bill of health. About time! I need to be a better kitty-mama.

Worth doing!

I will take my two cats to the vet next week. They are not ill but I think it’s important to go to the vet regularly. It’s just a check-up.
I love them and cosequently I don’t want them to get ill.

Linus's eye  — 1 year ago

Worth doing!

So I told my cat he wasn’t allowed to get sick until he was at least 13 and what does he do today? He’s got a drippy eye that’s red. He has all his shots and hasn’t been exposed to any new kitties so I don’t think it’s viral, it could be bacterial because bacterium are everywhere and it could be allergies (who knows)? When do I know when to take him in?

now on all their vaccines. both my kitties are healthy, with good teeth. She did tell me Gato is overweight. Guess I shouldn’t share my dinner with him. Perhaps he and I will both go on a diet.

I’ve been putting it off too long – time to take the cats to the vet. I will try to do it Thursday this week, but if I can’t make it then, it will have to be next Monday or Tuesday. Gotta stop procrastinating!

Enough love, not enough cash!  — 2 years ago

Alright. 3 cats. Mocha shes going to be 7 ( a senior in cat years!) in 2007. Seven shes going to be 6 in 2007. and Boston, he’ll be 4 in 2007.
Seven needs her teeth cleaned because she has gum disease. I’m still paying the $300 vet bill from 3 vet visits..had all blood work done, ear cleanings, special medicines for fleas and ear infections.
Mocha eats too much and vomits, shes very overweight and although I limit her intake of food, she still gulps down the other cats food and gets sick. I need to take her in for an annual check up and liver tests.
Boston, he got fixed AFTER he started spraying and since I’ve moved and traveled alot, hes yet to have his shots, and needs his teeth cleaned, and he still sprays sometimes, even when i use Feliway. So he might have bladder problems..

Thats my rant. Its hard to pay for 3 cats! I’ve never had kids..but I would assume this is a starting point! They will all get in the vet before the end of the year. I wish I had a credit card for just vet bills!!

Getting better?  — 2 years ago

I noticed today that Blur’s eye was looking better, so I didn’t take him to the vet today. I read that it could be stress related, and with the holidays and the “addition” of Pip, that could be stressful. I’m going to keep an eye on his eye (no pun intended) and at the first sign it’s getting worse (or actually, not better) then I’m going to take him.

He’s actually due for a checkup soon anyway, so I should probably take both of the kids to the vet anyway.

My cat Blur has what looks like an eye infection. His left eye is running and he keeps blinking at me :( Time to take him to the vet tomorrow.
