Well, I don’t have to make as many purchases this week in terms of graduation gifts, so I jumped and paid off the final $3.99 of my library fines.
So I am now FINE FREE… and I am gonna work to keep it that way. :D

My leftover cash from my $20 dinner budget was $3 ($15 dinner, $2 tip), so when I stopped by the library to give a brief presentation about volunteering, that money went straight to the desk to take a bit off of my bill.
$6.99-$3=$3.99!
I have to go in on Monday to register little kiddies for the summer reading program, so I think I’ll bring in loose change and handle that silly 99¢.

I had some money left over from buying lunch, so I stopped by the library and paid off $3. I am now down to $6.99 in fines. Not bad, but still not good. That’s a lot in fines. I am short on cash, but am going out to dinner with friends on Wednesday… My budget is $20… If there is change I will give it to the library to chip off some fines. I think I have some spare change in my car, so I will bring that in too. Every little bit counts…

I just checked my account today, and it turns out all I owe is $9.99. I did do a little volunteer work last night, updating the library website and helping to get things ready for the summer reading program (which I have helped to run for the last 5-6 years), so I think they took off those 65¢ (66¢) for me. :D

It turns out my addition was wrong and I owe 65¢, not 80¢. I also paid another $5 off today (some from Graduation money…), so I am down to $10.65 left. Spending money is tough because I am on a tight budget to save and to get Grad. gifts for my friends, and still no job! Now I have to get a part-time job AND a job on campus for while I’m in college…

I took all of my loose change to a Coinstar and got around $15 back. So I took 1/3 of that ($5) and dropped it off at the library. That took a chunk out of the fine, I am now down to $15.80! I hope to pay off a little more next week when I deposit and cash some checks I received from family members as graduation gifts. Still looking for a job…

Well, May was really stressful and I put off returning the some 45 books, magazines, and DVDs I checked out or even renewing them online. Now I have amassed about $20.80 in fines. I’m just out of high school and I don’t have a job, I have to be buying some Graduation gifts for friends, and I need to be saving for college, so money is not abundant right now. I plan to pay it off a little at a time until its all gone and I can check out books again! Until then I plan on reading some books I have lying around that I bought awhile ago but have never read (or have only read part of).

. . . but the times I drop by the library never seem to be the times I have eighty bucks handy. On my last move, I accidentally packed a dozen library books in with my books, and only unearthed them a year later. That was a spendy mistake. The nice library lady told me I could plead my case, but I love libraries and know they’re financially strapped anyway. I’m going to pay this. On payday. For real.

I really need to do this. I’m headed to the library right now, it’s been about a year so I have no idea what they will do. Last time I checked there were several lost books and (shockingly) it added up to $240 (!!!!!) Eventually I found and returned some of them, but I have no clue how many are still outstanding and what it all will add up to now. Last time they looked like they wanted to call the cops on me … hopefully this time it will go better ….

Well, my daughter and I finally made it to the library. We hadn’t been there in over a year so we actually had to renew our cards, too! Anyway, approximately 16 dollars later we were able to take some books out.
