How I did it: The intro: I have had a crush on Johnny Depp for 20 years. This was the first goal I put on 43things, and I recently wrote an entry awhile ago about how I felt that this goal will probably never be completed.
But friends, let me revel in the fact that it has.
The Story: My husband and I caught the premiere of Rango on a same-day notice, Valentines Day, 2011. I had realistic expectations: I was at least going to get a glimpse of him, which would have been more than I could ever hope for.
If you've ever gone to a movie premiere, you know that it's HIGHLY unlikely that the talent will ever come out and sign autographs, it's much too risky. However, Johnny has a reputation for doing this.
And...he did.
He was in a frantic mess trying to sign as many autographs as he could, hardly saying a word, or smiling at anybody. I positioned myself at the tail end of the sidewalk where the railing had ended. There were about 10 rows of people behind me, so people kept pushing me over and I struggled to stay up. I am, only 5'2". As he neared me, he saw me hunched over with the weight of the crowd on my back and yelled out "whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa" to the crowd with his arms in the air.
The crowed backed away a little, and this is where my dream comes true:
He hunched into my pesronal space, looked at me, smiled, and asked "Are you okay?"
Okay, seriously ladies. What is dreamier or cooler than Johnny Depp actually caring about your welfare?!!!
I replied smiling "Yes, I'm fine," as I shyly looked up at him. I asked him to sign my...coat of all things as I didn't have anything else with me. After he did, I asked him, "Can I hug you?" A simple "Yeah, sure," was what I got so I went for it!
Leezel's final note: Yes, my husband got this one picture of him smiling at me asking me if I was okay, but no camera or anything else can replicate Johnny Depp looking into your eyes. What a moment! Read how I did it… 2 years ago
