Vida Alasah

Vida is 40 years old and is a wife and mother of one child. She is a local manufacturer of palm kernel oil. The palm kernel is processed through various stages to obtain the oil, which is used to prepare many local dishes like fish and pastries. She produces and supplies the oil to food vendors. However, her production is slow as a result of not being able to afford to pay for a machine for the oil processing. She wants to use the loan to buy seventy bags of palm kernel and to pay for an electric milling machine to reduce the manual effort, so she produce oil in larger quantities. She believes the loan will also enable her to save more toward her child’s education. She belongs to the community group called the St. Pauls Trust Group. In this group, members guarantee for one another to repay the loan.
