roadtrip through America

i gave up music for a week (this is except for at work, where we play irritating music) and i hated every bit of it. i am usually listening to music, so i realized that my house is really quiet!!

Pack on the Indigo Girls albums- I want to travel aimlessly and learn the cultures of the states first hand.

20 days on the road; 39 days total. From Seattle to Modesto, CA, via Montreal and New York—7,372 miles start to finish. Rode an average of 364 miles a day, with six days over 500 miles and a longest day of 595 miles. My Moto Guzzi Stone Touring proved to be every bit as reliable and comfortable and fun to ride as I could have hoped. Added some highway pegs in Minnesota and they helped alot on the all-day rides.

Visited 24 U.S. states and 2 Canadian provinces. Used 175 gallons of gasoline costing a total of $545 U.S. dollars.

Highlights included Yellowstone National Park, Mt. Rushmore, Niagara Falls, Montreal, New York, and seeing 10 friends in 6 different cities.

Lowlights included the worst sunburn of my life while riding through South Dakota without wearing my jacket, almost being run off the road by a demented driver in St. Louis, and almost being blown/washed off the road by a severe thunderstorm in Kansas.

There’s more to America than cities and theme parks and all that sutff. I would like to see all that Americana that makes America so unique. Everything from Mount Rushmore to Pearl Harbor. But then again, stopping @ a few theme parks to have fun with some friends, wouldn’t hurt anyone.
