timeless_dreams packing her suitcase for her birthday weekend
I love love love New York City, but only as a visitor. I think i would love to live there too, but I don’t know because places are different when you have been there a long time! I guess you get bored of them. Although I’m not sure NYC is somewhere you could ever get bored of!
My original dream was to live in NYC full stop. I have decided to change this, because what if I move there and hate it. It is a huge step to take. I have decided on a year because that will let me see what it’s like before I make a decision about moving forever or not.
The good thing is that because of my career (teacher) I could probably take the opportunity to teach their for a school year so that I can try it out. This is another reason that America appeals to me. The people are so much more enthusiastic for the most part, and this is what kids in school need. I am so enthusiastic about my job and really don’t want to end up in a school where the teacher’s hate the job and all of my enthusiasm is sucked away.
There is a bit of a problem though! Getting a visa! I have looked into this, although when I was looking, I was looking for permanent residency rather than temporary. It’s a big circle! To teach in NYC, you have to get a teaching certificate. I would qualify for the teaching certificate, but they will only give the certificate to people that are US residents. I can’t get residency because I need an employer to sponser me. I can’t get employed because I don’t have the teaching certificate. I think this is how it works! See my dilemma!
Never mind, I won’t be doing this for a while so hopefully the economy will have picked up and the NYC Department of Education will sponser people to teach there or I can find some school willing to sponser me. I am sure it will all work out…I will make sure it does somehow!
