doing what I want when I want, eating what I want (popcorn for dinner, anyone?), not having to explain to anyone why I got home late, the freedom to make my own choices…I could go on and on. I love living alone. Yes, there are lonely times, and I would recommend to anyone living alone to have a pet. I’d be lost without my kitty-cats! Living alone helps you to find who you really are.

Been living alone since February (unless you count my cat as a roommate). Yay!

You can pee with the bathroom door open, walk around naked, eat when you want, sleep when you want, have people round when you want, make a mess, tidy when you feel like it, work from home, decorate how you want etc etc. But it does eventually get dull, and lonely after a year or so. Still worth doing though. I now look forward to my boyfriend moving in in September, and know that there may be some friction, because you can get set in your ways, and some things will need to be altered a little.

You get privacy, time to yourself, and other benefits. It can get a little lonely sometimes though, and a little stressful.

The only downfall I found to the 4 years I lived alone is I ate takeout constantly because cooking for 1 sucks! You can use all the hot water, watch TV in your underwear, leave the dishes in the sink for a week…the possibilites are endless. I highly recommend it!

I treasure all times when I had the time all to myself without having to think if I’m imposing on anybody’s time and space. I don’t have to answer to anybody. I can be a total slob when I want to. I can cook the things I like to eat, sleep anytime I want or just be plain lazy and I don’t have to worry about it. Not only did it help me apreciate my company, I learned how to budget my money and be financially independent.
