see how many miles I can get out of a tank

I’m sticking around 415 miles a tank now, not too shabby. I think after I (finally) get an oil change and put in a new air filter I may see an improvement.

I just saw $3.88 a gallon! I hope it keeps going down this is good news. I was afraid I would be paying $4.50 a gallon for heating oil all winter but maybe that will go down too. Although with gas people will drive less when prices are high, demand goes down so the price drops. I doubt anyone will stop heating their house because of high oil prices. :-)

Ok it’s better than last time but not by that much. Maybe 450 this time? That would be nice. I inflated my tires last time when I filled the tank and I checked the pressure today and one tire was a little low so I need to remember to fill that up. I’m also planning on replacing the air filter today and (finally) getting to that oil change this weekend if I can.

My wife and I have been car pooling to work so it’s going to take a lot longer for me to empty a tank now, but so far it seems like I’m on track to beat my mileage from last tank.

Today I decided to check out the car and find out what extra weight I could get out of there. I think I found about 5 lbs of things I didn’t even need in there like old maps that I have never used. Then there is a bunch in the trunk, a stroller and a folding chair I don’t use and a punch bowl set I’ve been driving around all this time. Hopefully if I clear that stuff out that will help.

Then I also want to make sure I check my tire pressure and fill up any tires that are low. I’ll see how much of a difference that makes on the next tank.

Oh, and this reminds me, I need to get an oil change. I’ve been meaning to do that for a while now and I be that would help. I should check my air filter too.

Today I filled up and I had gone 387 miles before I had to get some gas. I’ll see if I can beat that this time around.

That’s about 25.8 MPG. Not all that great, but better than that 72 Pontiac I had when I was younger. :-)
