*Day Eight Challenge...* 5 months ago

Well, I finally rode our riding lawn mower this past Saturday and cut the grass in our lower front yard (our front yard is really big, so I left the rest to my hubby)...

He couldn’t believe that I’ve never even mowed the lawn before. I guess that is a little weird. But, it was fun. He now says that the front yard will be my job and the back will be his job. I think he’s just glad to have a little help with this!

Yesterday evening I made a sock snowman ~ so cute! He was a little lumpy and not shaped as well as the one that I had as a model to look at, but he was a cute little frosty anyway! I filled a man’s socks with birdseed and used fuzzy balls, yarn, festive ribbon, and a sharpie to add the details ~ and voila! I have a snowman that can sit on my mantle and watch the goings on of our household during the cold winter months! You can also “use” him when winter comes to an end by giving the birdseed to the visitors in your yard!

*Day Six Challenge...* 9 months ago

Yesterday I brewed my first pot of coffee for my hubby…

He likes it very black. It made the house smell like the Log Cabin Pancake House, a favorite childhood restaurant that my family frequented when we went to Gatlinburg, TN for vacation each summer. Brought back nice memories!

Oh, and he said it tasted good….I hope it did. I’m not a coffee drinker, so I didn’t try it!

*Day Five Challenge...* 9 months ago

Yesterday’s challenge involved talking my husband into letting me shoot his gun that Mrs. Claus bought for him for Christmas…

I bundled up, put in the trusty ear plugs he insisted that I wear, and aimed. And of course, some random dog has to show up, out of the blue, and stand moping around right where I want to shoot….

After scaring him off, I completed this goal ~ it was fun! It did jerk a little, but my ears didn’t ring like I thought they would.

    Day five challenge completed ~ I shot a 270 rifle :-@

*Day Four Challenge...* 9 months ago

Yesterday I gathered all of the supplies to make a fleece throw (quilt) with ties on it. I got some fleece with a panel of kittens on it with pink trim and brown fleece to compliment the colors to tie underneath. It took me awhile and was not perfectly cut as I would like to have it, but it turned out really cute….

I gave it to my niece last night when the family gathered at my mother’s house for new year’s. She snuggled up in it right away ~ by the time I finished it, she was exhausted!

*Day Three Challenge...* 9 months ago

On Sunday I baked a wonderful batch of spiced nuts ~ they were actually delicious! I am not necessarily a good cook, so I was a bit worried…

My hubby loved them, though. Even my Dad wanted some so I gave him half of the batch. I was excited that everyone that tried them liked them (and ate more than one)! I will definately make these again next year closer to Christmas ~ they left my house smelling like cinnamon and spice!

*Day Two Challenge and "The Unsolved Case of the Missing Revolver"!* 9 months ago

I watched the movie “Clue” yesterday, which my niece bought me for Christmas. Made in 1985, it was a great movie with three alternate endings, and I thouroughly enjoyed it! I was a huge Clue fan as a little girl. My sister and I would play it into the wee hours and discovered all of the “tricks” to winning the game. We would even take it to our cousin’s house when we spent the night and make her play it with us!

A piece of “family history” about the game of clue:

One dark night my sister and I wanted to play the game of Clue. We had recently spent the night with our cousin Becky. We pulled the game out of the pantry, but were shocked to discover the revolver was missing….we searched and searched but to no avail! We finally assumed it got lost at our cousin’s house. However, a month or so later we pulled the game out again. When we opened the box, the revolver lay on the very top of the game board seperate from all of the other pieces! When asked, all members of the family denied ever having seen the revolver or ever putting it in the box. This remains a family mystery ~ how did the revolver mysteriously reappear?!

:-) A favorite childhood story of my sister and me!

*Day One Challenge...* 9 months ago

Last night I made some hot cocoa/hot chocolate for the very first time. I made it for my Dad, niece, and me. It was really good! I threw in some tiny flavored marshmallows and we all watched “The Polar Express” together. It was a good family time and the movie is absolutely magical…it made me cry several times. I will always “believe”...

*This is going to be awesome!* 9 months ago

I must complete ten things that I have never done before in ten days….

    Here’s my list:

*make a sock snowman (these are so adorable)
*climb a tree (amazingly I’ve never done this before, and have apparently missed out)
*brew coffee (never used my pretty red coffee maker ~ have done nothing with it but let it gather dust on the counter)
    *make some hot cocoa
    *shoot a gun
    *ride a lawnmower
    *make a fleece throw
    *make spiced nuts
    *watch the movie “Clue”
*take 43 pictures of my hometown within 43 minutes

Whew! Today’s goal ~ make hot cocoa! I’m going to do this for my Mom and niece tonight. I even bought those tiny little marshmallows in different colors to put in our cocoa…we’re going to snuggle up in our pj’s and watch “The Polar Express” while my hubby’s on a hunting trip!
