As a Phoenix Rising declares 2009 to be The Year of Heidi

    Gracious! 6 months ago

I took the mending I wasn’t up to doing myself to the tailor. Gracious! Talk about expensive. I turned a blind eye to the bill and left everything to be tended to. Considering that shortening those hems on sleeves, pants and tops has mocked me from the corner of my room for about year or so, I call it the price of procrastination. If I consider that the alterations are less expensive than buying more clothes for work….........

I did leave back the easy bits of mending (buttons and such) and will tend to those myself. Tonight, while I watch television.

The clothes will be ready when I am back from my holiday, so that and the cat sitting being done will free up a couple of spots for new desires.

Here's some motivation! 7 months ago

I was driving along and saw the new Rose & Henry place. They are tailors. Yep. The very ones that will do the bits of mending I can’t. (Well, not so well that one would actually wear the results!) Zo, today I shall sort the mending into mine and R&T mending. R&T get the zippers that need to be replaced, the jacket sleeve that needs to be shortened and perhaps hemming the pants that have enough extra fabric to be hemmed with cuffs. (True…...... I don’t really care about whats “in”. I don’t think cuffs are! Still…..... if I wear them, they may become fashionable!)

    The mending

Never mind that this has taken way more than ten days…........ =)

It happened nonetheless! 8 months ago

Yep. Having that couple come look at the house and me working diligently all week to prepare for them has the house company ready, upstairs and down.

Yippee! Now….... to keep it that way.

Have upstairs and downstairs Company Ready...... 8 months ago

Nope. Not going to happen. Not any more in this house. Packing up to move is a reasonable reason for Chaos to ensue.

Let’s be kind to me and consider it simply fine that life moved quickly ~ right past these two items!

That means nine out of ten are behind me. One more to go!

Play feathers with Miss Lily Belle so she doesn't get old before her time....... 9 months ago

We have, indeed, been playing Feathers almost every day. Especially when we are are getting ready for bed. Also, on weekend mornings before we get our day going.

Some people think my cat is spoiled. I don’t know why they think that!!

    Chirp, chirp......Chirp,chirp......Chirp,chirp......Chirp,chirp......Chirp,chirp......Chirp,chirp 10 months ago

Stopping the smoke alarms from chirping at me once a minute all night long got done too! Finally, the torture is over and Miss Lily Belle and I can sleep.

I drug the ladder upstairs, stood way up high to reach the smoke alarm at the vaulted ceiling and twisted and turned and after many tries the entire smoke alarm popped off and hung down from the ceiling by its wires. I couldn’t get to the battery compartment without entirely disassembling the thing. There were printed warnings not to do so or hordes of locust would invade my house, I would be electrocuted straightaway and all ice cream would disappear off the face of the earth. You can see why I was Very Afraid to proceed any further! I thought “Right then. You must be able to get the battery out from the front of this thing.” If I could just figure out how to get the front off and leave the bottom still attached to the hard wiring into the ceiling of my house. Try as I might, my (sometimes) brilliant brain could not make progress.

I thought a nice drive in to work on the holiday to use the internet, but more importantly, if there were success, the printer, would be a good idea.

I was able to find the instruction manual to my smoke alarm. I learned that all those warnings were to be followed by the words “JUST KIDDING”. I went home and disassembled the smoke alarm.

While I was at the battery store decided I would like to spend $6 per battery extra to get a ten year smoke alarm battery so I won’t need to totter at the top of a rickety ladder for another decade. I thought it best to tend to all the smoke alarms in the house so I could do this once a decade and not once a decade for every single smoke alarm on the day each individual smoke alarm chose, because I was pretty certain they were not all going to choose the same day. Such is life. Sometimes. Once a decade sometimes.

(I truly see the benefits of a perfect for me boyfriend and hope he shows up soon!)

Five Things done.......... well, this is half way done 10 months ago

Pulling the forrest of weeds in my backyard filled up the green waste can pretty quickly. Now that it has been emptied, I’ll finish this project this weekend. I made a nice “rock and art” garden in front of the water heater door, since nothing can be planted there since the door needs to be able to open. Of course, the weeds didn’t know that, so they grew there, of course. =)

I took odd shaped stepping stones and set them down. Fill in with sand and then set small river stones in on the sand. I set my Mom’s outdoor art on the stepping stones. Some pottery pieces and metal and wood pieces that have lived outdoors for decades now. I’ll only have to move two pieces of art to open that door. Now, when you sit outside, you eyes are drawn down to the art and rock garden, rather than simply staring at the door.

Perhaps I’ll get a picture up here in a bit. This post is about the weeds…..... so just as a reminder….

Fourth of Ten Things done 10 months ago

I went to a bank to see about a loan. It seems it is actually a possiblility for me to consider buying a single family dewelling! Not a Grand Palace, mind you. Zo, I’ll begin to look around to see if what I can afford is anything that I am actually willing to live in. You know, something other than a falling down hovel of a shack. At the same time I’ll embrace my current place as looking around may convince me to stay put.

This got done! 10 months ago

I emptied the bedroom that the leak in the roof is showing up in. That way when (finally) the builder or the subcontractor understand this is their responsibility and must fix it, my part of the work is done.
