went to the “bigger” branch (which is, coincidentally, where people are either very young or very old, but all friendly :)), and since I was feeling “nonfiction,” spent some time walking the aisles and browsing the shelves. Picked up five books on very diverse subjects, which should keep me occupied for the next three weeks (no rush, you know; not that there could’ve been if I wanted to… after all these years, still a slow reader :)).

is what the status bar on this goal should read for me now. I finally got to spend some time at our local library today. Spent some time getting familiar with the environment, read a portion of the Namesake there (and checked it out to finish later. The friendly Indian librarian gave me an approving nod and said that she had enjoyed the movie; hey, Bookish, Indian, Girl, just a coincidence?). I also borrowed the Pimsleur Spanish CDs to listen to in the car for this goal, and got two used paperbacks for $0.5 each (Beat that cheap fast-food! Although that price might be an insult to the man :)). A productive visit, to sum up.
Next time I might try the other branch which is bigger, but a little farther away. The limited inventory of this branch was the only thing I didn’t enjoy.
4 hours… I could declare the goal accomplished, of course, if it weren’t for this conversationI was the lazy grad student at the time :)
Once a month spend a day at the Library and organize my thoughts, goals, and projects.
1. week before last, i spent more than 8 hours at the library working on researching a paper
2. With new job, I have spent three days at a library so far!
am considering this goal Done, done, done, fair and square, no cheating.
soon… every work day will be spent “at the library”
somehow, Faustus, I have the feeling you’ll have an interesting reply to this entry!
:)
at a library in Queens today…
took out WAY too many books, considering how much homework i have to do…
but, hey, it was what it was:
I spent a solid hour at my university library, getting a one-to-one session on various ways to search the catalog and databases to which we have access…
(it was supposed to be a group information session, but i was the only nerd who actually showed up! :D )
courtesy of my job… (i took part in a community meeting that took place at a library, and purposefully got there a bit early to schmooze with the librarians!)
but i guess that doesn’t quite count towards this goal.
