got my first part time paycheck  — 1 week ago

Worth doing!

and the money missing was so little compared to the freedom I’ve had the last three weeks not having to stay so late, being able to flex my hours around since I’m not already staying there 9 hours each day. I’m excited for my class to end so then I can go back to having a full day off every week. totally worth it…do whatever you can to make your budget fit this dream!

with graduate school most likely around the corner…and it’s going to happen! At least, I’m pretty sure. I’m going to make sure I make it into graduate school before I count this done (because if I don’t make it in, I’ll likely go back to full time). But 90% starts in my next pay period for my summer class, at least.

Work Part-time  — 1 month ago

I’d like to be able to work part time so I can have better life balance between work and family. I would be able to better take care of myself and my family. It’s tough to achieve any goals when you play the rat race all the time. Between working, working out, taking care of my family, etc. there is little left to do for me.

but work has picked up and I received a new responsibility that I’m really excited about (help me on my way to being a probation officer) so this is back in the wishful thinking file. Maybe in a few more years…

and my actual review is tomorrow, so I should learn more about my options and if it’s something I’m going to be able to feasibly do.

Worth doing!

This Wednesday will be my last full time day of my job. I worked hard to pay off all my debt and put in the time to my boss.

My boss was gracious enough to offer me part time so I could keep my benefits and maintain some income.

I am blessed it worked out this way. I knew I had to work part time somewhere even though I was quitting my full time job.

So now, I just have to get pregnant. That’s my last goal and it’s taking an impressive amount of time to accomplish.

hopefully in 2008  — 10 months ago

Worth doing!

My job tends to let lots of people work part time. I just need to get about asking. While we have a small mortgage and I am going back to school, I would like to do this while I can, knowing that at some point I may not be allowed to do this forever. my husband and I keep our lifestyle costs to a minimum, and since we do, I think it’s worth having more time to see my friends, cook, write letters, do some things around the house, etc. Plus, if I take the cut in hours this year, i may not face much of a paycut with an upcoming raise and a change in my deductions. I don’t lose my benefits, only a little bit of vacation time, so I’m going to try to ask about doing it sometime in November or December and hopefully start a 80 or 90% schedule in 2008.

A long road ahead  — 1 year ago

Worth doing!

I’m hoping to be stable enough to work part time in a year. My sanity is worth more than my current salary. I’m taking the time to make sure I do this right and avoid failure. Happiness and contentment is worth more than money. However, happiness and contentment don’t pay my mortgage. So, I have to play a delicate balancing act.

I like my job, really  — 1 year ago

It’s just that I wish I could do it part time. I’ve decided that time really is more important than money. I would definately scale down my lifestyle if I could work part time to do it. I kind of wish my job would allow me to “buy” vacation, you know? Like, take some of my paycheck away and give me extra vacation hours, like a trade? But no, they won’t do that!
