I might be putting this one off after my parents said I have to concentrate on my school work instead of taking time out cooking.
They’re kind of right, I mean I do need to study but I’m sure I could manage one meal a week.
Ah well, I’ll maybe do some over half term and get this goal going… maybe!

I don’t believe I am totally non-dependent on my parents. There are still many things I rely on them for, and as I’ll be going to University in the autumn I need to start learning a few skills that will seriously help me out!
I wouldn’t say I’m a bad cook, but I need to sharpen up on my skills. I’ll say now that I think I can do a bolognese, but totally on my own, I’m not so sure… how long do I cook the mince for? Hmmmm… definitely need to get to work on this.

I’d like to learn how to make anything I could possibly want or need from scratch, to learn campfire and hearth cookery, various ethnic cooking methods and dishes. I also want to learn primitive preserving techniques.

Last year in grade 12 I took a cooking class that taught me some essential basic skills. I’ve also self taught myself at home whenever my parents go out. I think I’m well on my way to learning to cook pretty well, I just have some problems with cooking more than one thing at once. Also self teaching myself about visual presentation of food.

I got a Better Homes & Gardens cookbook and my husband and I plan to make every recipe in the book at least once. So far we’ve only done 5 but we have plenty of time to try everything!

we rarely eat out, so we’re constantly searching for tasty, delicious, affordable (and fairly healthy) recipes. we seem to be far more skilled than our parents and most of our friends, but i would really like to be able to make more of a variety of meals. and desserts! and finger foods! and ethnic dishes!
