A live-in one 9 months ago

I run my business from home… and that takes up quite a bit of energy and time. Also can’t be the good guy all the time. And employing staff doesn’t make sense cost wise. At least with a live in, she can take care of the daily housekeeping and be the good guy.

And i can take a proper vacation knowing that the house and pets will be taken care of. It’s a matter of finding someone trustworthy.

okay, i felt so yuppie doing this. but after 2 doctors told me to stop cleaning my house because of dust allergies and was so sick one point this summer i couldn’t clean, i hired someone. and its been pretty good!

Do it! 2 years ago

Seriously, I only have my cleaner coming in once a month, but it makes such a difference. I’d have her in more often if I could afford it.

She takes care of all the every-so-often cores that I never get around to (like scrubbing the tub, vacuuming under furniture, doing the windows). It’s nice to know that I can just do a little bit of cleaning every week, and the more intensive stuff will be done for me.

If you’re thinking about doing this, I seriously recommend finding a locally-owned company. Independant maids or cleaners are often not insured, and if someone is good and responsible, he or she can build up a company fast. Mine has been in business for 20 years, and has four people working for her but still cleans herself. She’ll use only green products if you request it. She is amazing, I love coming home after she’s been here.

how about a robot? 2 years ago

I may have to invest in the robot floor cleaner rather then get a maid just now.

My house is Soooooo clean! 2 years ago

It’s been a month now.
Of course, it is not a “maid” in the old-fashioned sense of the word, more like a cleaning lady that comes once a week and makes our place feel so much more living-worthy…
We just finished pre-cleaning (ha ha!) and tomorrow morning this tornado of a woman comes again. Hurrah!

Boguska... 2 years ago

This lovely Polish lady became the highlight of my week every Friday afternoon. She would scrub my apartment from top to bottom, including washing the wood floors on her hands and knees and making my bed. I think I may have been falling in love… then she moved back to Poland with no warning! Sob. I miss you, sweet, hard-working Boguska.

Keepping up on appearances 3 years ago

keeping it neat and clean is such an effort, I miss having a maid who comes in once or twice a month to pay attention to things like the tub, and the stove.

I didn’t think my tub was so dirty… until the second round of comet cleanser. Now its a sparkling slipping hazard waiting to happen.

not officially giving up 3 years ago

but this isn’t going to happen… I got married… that’s close enough to getting a maid, especially since my tolerence of dirt has about a five day lag after hers…

It was great when I was growing up. Whats the downfall?

Finally!, sometimes it’s so hard to find someone to take care of your house properly and for a reasonable price but aparently I found just the right girl for the needs of my place. Now I have time to do many other things I have been procastinating. :)
