Been doing some on and off ever since I entered this goal.
How to learn Hebrew Alphabet
It made me
feel smarter 
"Challenging, it's like Pilates for the brain!"
How I did it: I just made up my mind to do it and I did it.
I also taught it to my husband... teaching helps me learn it because you have to be repetitive.
It's all part of the bigger picture... learning to speak Hebrew!
Lessons & tips: Learn the Alef-Bet song! It made it easier for me.
Also, if it seems hard for you to learn... take it 3 letters a day at a time.
Example: The first day study & practice Alef, bet, gimmel..... the next day add dahlit, Hey, Vav. (Transliteration spelling, phonetics).
Resources: I used a few online resources like hebrew4christians.com, and a book from Barns & Noble called "Hebrew in 10 minutes a Day". You might also google "Billye Brim", she is a christian minister who teaches basic hebrew.

learning the hebrew alphabet can get you in some social circles that may lead to more interesting bits of knowledge; other than that, unless you plan to visit israel or become a jew it is not what we’re told it is, an alphabet for a 5000+ year old language. Who knows, really? we believe it is this old because it has been written so. When was it written? by whom? to what end? how can we know that what they wrote is “true”? Because it is based on other “authentic” documents whose authenticity is merely accepted?

Thinking backwards is tough when you’re used to western left to right. Using the diacritical marks are tough too – but only at first. The way I learned the alphabet was to do silly things like write grocery lists and other small notes to myself using it.
After that I was able to learn a few words and grammatical principles. I didn’t need to learn it conversationally yet. I’m just using it for word studies in the Bible.

hebrew is a beautiful language but you have ta be ready for a challenge in order for u to learn it!

I am a history buff and have recently been enthralled with old hebrew customs and cultures.
I want to learn to read and conversationally speak Hebrew, but that’s a big huge goal to agree to ahead of time, so I’m just gonna start by learning the alphabet.
