I actually ventured in the worm composter today. Planted two tomato plants and used a huge amount of fantastic compost from the worms ! It is like gold! The whole worm composting project suddenly came into fruition and it thrilled me:) . I am going to keep these guys around for a while longer.

the worms are being set free tomorrow. If anyone would like my worm composter I would be more than happy to semd it to them.
they have been hanging out in their house all winter ( in our house ). Today I gave them some dryer lint and some fruit stuff from my juicer. They have sort of been ignored for the last few months. My gawd they are still thriving! I am going to set them free next week…....seriously, I will mail the entire contraption to someone if they would like it. :)
As soon as Spring comes I am going to set the worms free outdoors. I need probably 10 worm composters to keep up with our family. I will gladly ship the composter to someone if they send me their address etc.
cute little guys but we have waaaaay too much compost for them. Husband googled chickens tonight. I think we are going to have to switch back to chickens for our compost and train the big dog to stay away from them :) .
I am really wondering ….... I think the worm composter is maybe meant for families of 2….... not 6. I have bags of vegetable waste in the freezer waiting for the worms. :)
got the worms all reorganized. I now have three tiers. It is actually quite a bit of work grinding up all of the food for these guys. Chickens are way easier, just throw the food scraps over the fence! They even eat spaghetti!
was away for six days, came home expecting the worst. The worms are happy and healthy. It is a bit of work, have to cuisinart all of the food scraps for the worms…..... sort of funny really. :) . I don’t regret buying it though. Another month and they should be really settled. Will take a picture and everything!
grose! I really hate creepy crawly things…...anyways they all looked happy (for worms)....gave them a handful of vegetable scraps. mmmmmm. I am wondering what I have gotten myself into?
The worm composter arrived two days ago. I got home yesterday. Those poor worms sat in the post office for two days :( . Everything is cool. I set it up last night, got the bedding all ready, put my first food scraps in it…. a layer of damp newspaper on top of everything….put 2 lbs, YES! two pounds of red wrigglers under the newspaper, put the lid on and now I have to wait for three days until they (the worms) make themselves at home. Then I can add food scraps ….. they even eat junk mail! :). sort of fun!
