How I did it: I really enjoy having a daughter and now we have a son on the way. I am so excited and I love being a mother. Sure, it's hard at times but it's also very rewarding and fun. Read how I did it… 3 weeks ago

Annette and I went to story time at the library, got some unpacking done, took a long walk with the dog and played. I considered it a good day and it must’ve tired her out because she slept an extra hour today! 3 months ago

We had a great time at our massage. Annette was so relaxed and good. I started reading more books to her too. We started a routine in the morning. We both like it. Today was her two month check-up and everything went well! She got a few shots and she slept most of the day. We took a nice long walk tonight with the dog too. 15 months ago

We’ve started going to yoga together and on Monday we have a massage scheduled! I can’t wait.
The yoga really makes me feel better and helps with my flexibility. She likes it a lot too and she gets extra tummy time in.
We’re getting a locals discount on yoga and the massage is half off because we helped them shoot some promotional photos. We’re going to be on their website :) 15 months ago

I have a vision of being an active, fun mom. Of crawling around with my kids, sitting on the floor comfortably.
Current reality is not so fun, my body aches when I sit on the floor too long, and my flexibility in general sucks. I’d love to be able to go to mama baby yoga classes with my on but right now I feel too out of shape to start.
So I started by setting a goal to do some short DVD sessions at home with my son at my feet. This is week two, and it’s fun. I have a long way to go to have the stregnth to do a lot of the poses, and my heels are frighteningly high for downward dog, but it’s nice to be moving towards a goal. 15 months ago

My son had his first haircut today – he’s 8 1/2 months old.
We went to my hairdresser, just down the street (he’s the papa to a baby just a few months older).
My son did great, enjoyed the experience, was pretty cooperative for a baby, and (sniff sniff) looks more like a little boy than a baby now. (Of course, before he was looking like a scruffy little boy who might be a little girl in fact with that long hair).
Really, truly, they grow up so fast! 15 months ago

I’m glad I found a phrasing for this that is better than “be a good mom”. Of course I do want to be a good mom, but I really want to enjoy the process.
I am so lucky to be able to stay home with our baby (born May 2011) and we had a very hard path to have him, and I am very grateful for getting to experience my dreams of motherhood.
I want to do my best to appreciate this phase of life, and my son. 16 months ago
