Her mom had to go to church to sing. We played Leggoes. What fun! I made a little house with a “secret” attic room. She loved that. She got very silly at bedtime, pulling her pj bottoms up to her armpits. We laughed and laughed and then read a “chapter book.” I do love being Granbean!

My daughter invited me for the traditional after-Christmas ham pea soup. The granbeanie and I made play-dough flowers and colored pictures before dinner and after we played in her room. My daughter sent me home with a container of soup for lunch tomorrow and some of her famous cherry bars. Meanwhile BJ and Dolly spent the day with the dogsitter eating snacks and getting lots of belly rubs. Still, they were glad to be picked up and brought home and I was glad to do it.
My daughter brought him home from her fencing lessons. He was her instructor. I offered him coffee but all I had was some really old instant I couldn’t even scrape out of the jar. So I poured the boiling water in the jar and shook it to make the coffee. He noted that I had served him a “most unusual tea.” I felt so bad I invited him back (and made sure I had some real coffee to brew).
Today he dropped by and I offered him coffee. I have apparently hidden the coffee since the kids left and had to make him a cup from one of the “one cup” pouches. It looked a little light and he said, “Hmmm. Looks familiar.” We laughed and hugged and enjoyed a moment.
So I admit I’ve been a little down lately. Pain does that to me. Unpaid bills do that to me. So I reached for my anti-depressant: Cake Wrecks! These are new and made me laugh out loud so hard the dogs looked up in wonder! The cure for seasonal depression:

Hip, hip, hoo-ray! Literally. My hips ache so bad I’d have to take the time off even if it wasn’t a holiday.
It took twice as long as the doctor had predicted but I brought my SO home about half an hour ago. It’s been a long day and he’s loopy from the meds. He refused to stay with me tonight, which is a mistake but I made him promise to dial 911 if he bleeds or has chest pressure. I’m glad he made it through. He’s tough. Keep those candles lit and fingers crossed! I’m gonna go veg out now.
Well except for the little 12-incher the granbeanie seems to think is so beautiful. I don’t mind at all because both my girls will have trees and both those trees will have the ornaments that have adorned my trees through the years. Some were lost in the fire but not all. K will have a Charlie Brown type of tree and N has a rosemary bush cut into a tree shape – so like them both. Me, I’m not having a tree this year.
He came to my door yesterday wanting to cut my grass. (My yard needs a lot of work, but cutting the grass in December is not high on my list.) So I told him, okay. He said he’d come today to do it. I paid him in advance because he clearly needed the money. My SO said that would be the last I’d see of him. I said I believed the guy would show and do the work. And he did.
The kids are moving home tomorrow! Their house is not quite finished, but so close that my daughter feels she can get more done if she sleeps there. So that is good. It is beautiful and homey and theirs.
I’m keeping Dolly, their dog and BJ’s pup. Her hips are just too bad to be an outside dog so I said she could live with me and “visit often” as I intend to do.
