I found all the oboe reed supplies except that reed tool kit I’ve been looking for. It turns out the reed kit didn’t have one of the shaping tools I needed. However, it does have those 2 knifes, an english horn mandrel and the english horn shaper tip (which i really would like to find)
All the oboe stuff is with me and that’s actually what’s essential right now. And made some progress on sharpening that lone knife I mentioned in my last entry and I was able to adjust reeds today. Not sure if it’s as good as my 2 favorite knives but it could do for awhile. 3 years ago

I actually almost have everything I need. The only thing is I didn’t find my tool case with 2 good knives and a diamond-stone sharpener, and that’s key to making reeds. (actually, now that I think of it, a few of my vital shaping tools and a $250-shaper tip are in that case, but I can do a few stages of reed making without that) However I found an old dull knife and another sharpening tool so there may be hope. It’s just really hard getting it sharp and I don’t think it’s a great knife. I really would like to find my tool-kit and my room is really messy and I think it’s somewhere in there. (though it’s pretty buried because my room’s messy and I’ve been missing this item for half a year) If I don’t find it when I clean my room, I guess I’m going to have to replace it but I hope it doesn’t come to that because it will set me back a lot.
But for the meantime, if I get this lone knife sharp enough, I can adjust the store-bought reeds I ordered and that could already help me with my oboe playing. 3 years ago
