The Handmaid’s Tale – it was outstanding
Blind Assassin – Not very good
The Robbers Bride- Awful
I’m hoping to read more. Hopefully Surfacing next but I want to read them all!

Because I liked the film and usually read the book of films I like when there is one, I also like dystopic fiction, like 1984 but I dont think that Atwood is a great author.

I love Margaret Atwood. I will refer you to my favorite, Cat’s Eye. And I have never read A Handmaid’s Tale, her most popular.

I read it in high school. I wasn’t a great fan. One reason is that my teacher was a little too keen on pointing out every single metaphor or other literary technique in the book, which was excruciating. The other reason is that I got the impression she was trying to make some comment on muslim society, but because she didn’t do that directly she could caricature it. I don’t think there’s much to learn from stereotypes.
It’s the sort of book I should have liked, it just bugged me.
I recommend The Handmaid’s Tale just because it’s the only one I’ve read, and it’s a classic.
Margaret Atwood is one of my favorite authors! The Handmaid’s Tale, Oryx and Crake, and The Blind Assassin are all excellent novels I can personally reccommend.
