...indeed.
How I did it: I've always had legible handwriting, but it was very plain and nondescript. I'm very perfectionistic in everything I do, and the way my handwriting looked two years ago was unacceptable to me.
So I started experimenting with different ways of writing each letter and of slanting my words (i.e. writing your letters where they all lean to the left, right, or stay upright). I looked at the handwriting of people I admired and started writing certain letters the way they wrote theirs. I scoured the web for various fonts and any time a letter looked particularly beautiful and unique, I incorporated it into my own handwriting.
At first my handwriting looked really awkward as I practiced new ways of writing letters, and some letters looked out of place. But inevitably within a few months I would get comfortable writing the letters in a new way, and the awkward appearance would leave the handwriting.
Now I have an extremely unique penmanship that has the added benefit of being beautiful, and no one who has seen my writing has failed to comment on the attractiveness of my script.
I should mention that saying it took me 2 years to have beautiful handwriting may be misleading: While it certainly took me two years to form a style of handwriting I am proud of, my handwriting started looking elegant within about 2 months of making changes. So by no means do I want anyone to think it has to take years to accomplish a goal like this.

I had wanted to work on this over the summer, but it somehow managed to take a back seat to everything else that’s been going on. I’d really like to be able to have handwriting that is both legible and beautiful when I start grading papers and such in the Fall. Right now, I’m just legible.
I think I’d like to work on perfecting italic style handwriting, since that tends to be neat and clear but also easy to feminize. At the same time that I’m doing this, I’m also going to work on retraining myself to hold my writing utensils correctly, since right now I definitely don’t do that.
Completing this will put me one step closer to making myself into a work of art.
It’s been 2 weeks and my handwriting is beautiful. I’ve practiced tons randomly and I like writing now. Yay, me! I’m not going to pronounce myself completely done yet because I still think it could be even more gorgeous.
i’ve never really been happy with my handwriting until recently. But now I am. I still don’t have one specific style of handwriting- it depends on my mood really- but I have two different kinds: One that is small & compact & perfectly even, one that has flare & is a bit bigger. Either way I like it.
I have wonderful memories of my Father’s excellent penmanship. I always admired his signature – he’d only do it in felt-tip pen :) So i need my chicken scratchmarks to live up to his standards
