Chewy Call is going to go slacklining.
How I did it: I looked out in my back yard and there it was. I did nothing to bring it on or even thinik about trying to see it. I live in Idaho and I didn't know that you could see that stuff so far south from where it actually happens. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I saw the northern lights many times, as (too) much of my career and education has taken me to the Great Plains states, near the Canadian border. Each time, I marveled at how beautiful it was and was surprised that some people who live on those regions just take a ho-hum attitude, like I do about earthquakes.I never went looking for the northern lights, I would just see them on a business trip, on my way home from work, or walking back to… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I just moved up near Fairbanks, AK in the middle of winter. They want me to write more, but there's not that much to it! I moved here, I was bound to see 'em! I saw them last night, heh. Read how I did it…
Tammy has moved
How I did it: I lived in Minot AFB, North Dakota at the time... many, many years ago. I was newly married at 18 and missing home (CA) very badly. I didn't take the time to enjoy the beautiful gifts that the Northern United States had to offer. Silly girl! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I didn't know what the northern lights were for a very long time. I was raised in Marquette, MI and they can be seen very well occassionally in that area of the state...they were absolutely gorgeous and very intriguing Read how I did it…

I was about to see them in Norway but I haven’t seen them.
So it is one of my dream, whether in Iceland or Alaska, would be amazing! Natural shows are the best ones.
If i can pay off all my debts by next year. i’m going to save up and probably go Iceland next christmas/new year =]
Since I lived in Minnesota for three years, in North Dakota for seven years and traveled to North Dakota for work for another 12 years after that, I saw the northern lights plenty of times without going out of my way.
The best time was one evening I had to drive from the Spirit Lake Dakota Nation to the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa reservation. It is about a two-hour drive for me (I drive slow). It was a clear, freezing night, about nine below zero and the temperature dropped progressively as I drove toward Turtle Mountain, which is just a few miles south of the Canadian border. Soon, it was 15 below and dropping. Off to my right, I could see the northern lights the whole way. It was beautiful, like purple fireworks in the night sky.
It was 22 below by the time I got to the hotel, which was named the Sky Dancer, after a story the Chippewa had about the northern lights being a dancer in the sky, I think.
Usually when I have to drive at night in that kind of weather, I spend the entire time thinking how insane I must be to be here instead of home in Santa Monica. For once, I just thought how amazingly beautiful it was and how lucky I am to have a life that encompasses so much variety, from the Santa Monica Pier to the northern lights.
i lived in anchorage for two years, i just happened to be out late one night at the end of summer seeing as how the sun stays up forever in alaska during the summer. well it finally got dark and it was like somebody hit a switch the sky just started glowing. i never saw them again though.
jarvic7 needs sleeping lessons.
I’m gonna make this happen. I was living in Death Valley when Hale-Bopp flew by…big sky, big stars…but I really want to see the BIG SHOW up north!
