a desktop app in any OS that would let me edit things directly for organizing…that’s all
Always more to do. Cleaning it out was, was, just nice.
I got a great amount of satisfaction every time I hit delete or consolidated and eliminated tags.
When I started used del.icio.us I would give items all sorts of tags. Now, I don’t feel compelled to tag something just because I bookmarked it. Some tags I’m quite happy with, such as my ThoughtWorks tag.
Richard Rosalion is logging into 43 things for the first time in a long time!
Just wondering if anyone knows of any good (preferably online) tools which can help organise del.icio.us tags?
Specifically, I often make typos (“religoin” was a recent one, or I’ll sometimes accidentally put commas after the tag), or will end up with tags like “blog”, “blogs”, and “blogging” – I can’t imagine it would be too difficult to have an application which would detect similar tags, and alert you to them?
Anyone know of such a program? Or am I doomed to doing it manually? (or, perhaps, when I find the time – writing the application myself)
I’ve thought about deleting old links to the main page of popular sites – digg, boing-boing, etc.
I’d love to find an app to cull dead links.
Also, when I delete I’m looking for a picture of what is happening in my links. I’m trying to remove the small stuff or tag it as a novelty item and forget about it.
I’m not sure this task will ever be complete. It’s a process.
I’d love it if digg would auto-post to del.icio.us. Wouldn’t that be cool? Web 3.0 might be when all these web apps start talking properly. Or maybe that’s Web X.XX.
I just took the plunge to start organizing. I deleted and recreated my del.icio.us account; nothing like starting with a clean slate!!
I simplified my tags. I don’t have as many, and I unbundled them all. For some reason it was just complicating things.
The only thing I have left to do is delete a few links, which I can’t seem to do for some reason. I tagged them with “delete,” so I guess I’ll come back later.
Now all I have to do is keep using the system I set up, and hopefully I won’t have to deal with this again.
And I found this really great article. I’m not sure if I agree with all of it – for example, as far as tagging goes, I’m much more interested in a sparse tagging system that makes sense to me. I understand the theory behind liberal tagging, but it’s just too disorganized for me.
Read the article, though. It has a lot of good tips.
I worked on this a little bit today. I unbundled my tags, which was a good start.
Currently, I’m going through my links one by one, deleting all the old tags and adding new ones. I’m writing down the new tags on a Post-It as I go along so they all kind of mesh. Hopefully.
