kath63 is contemplating the importance of living one's dreams.
While on retreat this week, I meditated twice a day. I really loved the way it kept me centered and focused on the task at hand. Now that I’m home, I plan to get up early each morning to continue my practice.
This goes very well now, because I attended The Big Sit, a 90 day zen meditation challenge, organised by Tricycle Magazine. Today is day 21 and each morning I sit for 40 minutes..

My plan is to read a bit of this book each night and then meditate after. A way to encourage me to stay true to my practice.

I realize that my focus and direction in life is best determined from inner wisdom. I want to take my life in the direction it needs to go, led from within. I can’t do that without a daily practice.
Sat again last night (2008/1/4). I try to remember, I start this again every moment, even while I’m sitting.
I sat today for 10 minutes. There is something very un-zen, I guess, about setting goals about zazen, and timing onself. I’m trying not to think of it as a competition, but rather a way to reinforce a habit I want to develop.
Tomorrow I will try again.
