Jen started writing again! :D
I saw Nine Inch Nails live for the second time—my first concert since the Smashing Pumpkins in November.
There’s nothing as exciting as going to a concert (except for being onstage, maybe). I hope I don’t have to wait as long for the next one!

melissa You want to fight about it?
Work and life in general have already begun to seriously conflict with this goal. Oh well…

The Felice Brothers were rockin’ last night. I’m still on that post-concert buzz. I had Smurf and G with me and I honestly didn’t expect them to dig it, but they did – especially Smurf who’s like the world’s biggest Sublime fan (so I really didn’t expect him to get into it). Smurf and I timed it perfectly when the opening act was finishing up and weaved our way up right next to stage. Halfway through the Felice Brothers set, the accordion/organ player hands me a glass of Wild Turkey. I downed it, but…I was done drinking for the night after that.
Super fun awesome sexy night.
Oh yeah, and so I don’t forget this for a long, long time, G said if he ever has a daughter he’d like to name her…
wait for it…
Slashley!
Good times… :)

The Walkmen show was sexy, and I realized I was totally right in calling them one of my favorites. And there are still three whole weeks left in this month for me to rock outbut I really wish April 4 would hurry up and get here, ‘cause I’m real psyched about the Felice Brothers show.

February...
February was a lot of local shows. I went to a lot of my friends’ band shows and caught a couple of other local acts in the process. And a good time was had by all (but more importantly, ME).
March 10 is the Walkmen show!!!!!!!I’m just the least little bit excited about this one in case the plethora of exclamation marks wasn’t a dead giveaway.
April is the Felice Brothers, and you should all come with me to that one. It’ll rock your socks off. I think G and I are going to a James Taylor show in May, and then it’s summer and all the really really good shows start happening. You know, I hate everything about summer except for the concerts. :)

I’m a concert addict, but I’ve noticed that I’ll go to a lot of shows one month and then zero the next and the five the month after that. I get such a high from live music that there’s really no reason I shouldn’t be doing this on a more consistent basis.
This is an “anything goes” goal. Big shows, local acts, the symphony, whatever…they’re all going to count.
January was obviously the Dresden Dolls. February? I’m not sure. Yonder Mountain String Band is playing at WorkPlay Thursday, but I’m thinkin’ I might have to work late that night. If that doesn’t work out, there’s a Cowboy Mouth/Cross Canadian Ragweed show next Friday.
Oh and in looking this up, I just found out that Henry Rollins is doing his spoken word thing in Birmingham on the 19th. I’ll be seeing that, too.

I’m going to see the Smashing Pumpkins in a few months. :D
I’ve also seen several concerts at a local art museum this year, which was fun.

i give up! i don’t have the money or energy to think about this goal just now, & probably won’t in the future.
i can’t really afford to buy lots of gig tickets, & because i’m on a 9-5-5-day-a-week course i don’t really have the time either.
for the past few months i’ve been feeling really down, which in turn has made me sell a gig ticket & miss out on others i’d ordinarily have gone to. the last gig i went to was ryan adams in september, & before that… i can’t even remember! i’ve still got hellogoodbye in january (I CAN’T WAIT!) & brand new in february though.
i’m not giving up on going to gigs, i just don’t think they’ll be a top priority for me anymore.

i’m severely slacking in this goal! i’ve not been to a gig since… may? i have two september gigs lined up, which will mean nine gigs for nine 2006 months, but i don’t know where the other three will come from! but at the end of the day, i’m not too worried, & hell, i’ve seen my favourite band this year, so i reckon that counts for something!
