Visit Zandra Rhodes's Fashion and Textile Museum

I will have a visitor’s visa to the UK and someone to sponsor me to stay,2 weeks in London. I will be visiting college campuses and the Tate Modern, Zandra Rhode’s museum and Bloomsbury. xx

Met up with fellow 43Thinger MyCapaciousBottega to check out this museum in Bermondsey. It’s very much a Zandra Rhodes museum rather than a Fashion and Textile Museum – as the exhibition focused solely on Rhodes’s work dating back to the 60s.

The colours are staggering – a neverending spectrum of vivid hues – and her designs draw from sources of inspiration ranging from the theatrical to the ethnic. Some of the dresses (is it the “73/74”??) will be familiar and have certainly been re-visited by later designers.

No menswear, unfortunately, though the fabrics were so good that I nearly acquired a taste for women’s eveningwear.

Horseradish and I linked up at London Bridge today and did it together. It was really kool actually and I was very suprised that there was affordable items to be found in the museum shop. lol

Have decided that I need to get my hands on some of her textile. That is what is truly desirable about her fashion legacy. Which spans 4 decades as opposed to the 40 my idiot brain offered up earlier…

I guess this free’s up a space on my list! Yippee :)

re-opens on the 12th of july. Planning to go with fellow 43, horseradish. Bring it on!
