I checked out a number of nonfiction books from the library and realized that I couldn’t read them all, and didn’t want to read them all. So I skimmed several of them. It takes about 10-15 minutes to skim a book (at least for me), and I look for those nuggets of good information. The more I do it, the better I become. So, the low-value activity is reading the books, when they’re not of much interest to me, but have some gems embedded in the rough. 4 hours ago

at thrift stores has always been something I enjoyed. Right now, I have no desire to shop and actually only go into a store when I have something in mind to buy. I may look around – that’s still fun – but actually spending money on something and bringing it home to take up space, well, a horse of a different color. It has to be something fabulous because I have a house full of fabulousness, and I’m decluttering some of that fab stuff. No need to bring more home. 1 week ago

My TV keeps throwing the breaker and shutting down part of my house’s electricity. Don’t know why. So I am keeping it off until I can afford to get an electrician to figure it out. I may end up getting rid of the TV and the DVD player and buying new ones. But that will be down the road. Because it doesn’t work, I’m going to have time to do other things. 8 months ago

I watched very little TV over the past two weeks and had so much time for other things! I’m going to continue to avoid the TV. My partner watches so much that it’s easy to get sucked in. I’m going to identify the shows I want to watch and limit myself to them. No more mindless boob tube staring. 11 months ago

I turned on the TV briefly last night to check the Weather Channel for today’s temps. Then I turned it off. I got so much done last night, plus a lot of reading. I have been turning on the TV for “company”, but I get sucked in to stupid shows, plus waste time channel surfing for something “good” to have on. It was very pleasant, and I ate dinner without it on too. 14 months ago

is a low-value activity because if it’s clutter, it needs to go! 17 months ago

This weekend I resisted doing it, and saved both time and money. I got home 2.5 hours earlier than I expected! I used the time to do stuff at home that has been piling up. More to do tonight. 20 months ago

A new leaf flipped over in my life, and I have quit eating candy. I didn’t quit until mid-August, and I have been tempted once, but suddenly I didn’t want to eat candy anymore. It is such a low-value activity, and the benefits from not eating candy are enormous for me. 21 months ago

This is not an activity per se, but it is low value for me. It’s costing me over $100 every month and I am only using it to hold things until I can get rid of other stuff (sell, give away, trash). It’s not an efficient use of my money. I need to get busier and use that storage unit more for the purpose I rented it, or else clear it out and let it go. 23 months ago

If I’m going to get some of these goals done, I need to prioritize things. There will always be tons of stuff to do and I will always have a limited amount of energy and time to accomplish my goals. I want to do something once a day to get things done. Some of my goals can be broken into steps to be accomplished. That is prioritizing because step 1 must be completed before going to step 2.
Also I have so much to do that sometimes I get paralyzed with being overwhelmed. It doesn’t help that the hot weather has arrived and I tend to get lethargic and want to sleep. 2 years ago
