How I did it: Okay,
Anyone who has followed my entries with this will realise that it took a ridiculously long time to achieve this goal. First was finding the money and time. My adorable boyfriend knows my 43things list very well so on the 28th of June last year - my birthday he gifted me with a certificate for us both to go hanggliding.
It is only now - 1 week before the certificate was due to expire that we were able to get it done.
Numerous difficulties problems occurred. Weather, family occasions, friend occasions, soccer, travel etc.
However it is good. It shows that this goal. Like any other goal I have had on 43things.com - particularly the ones where I have documented the journey - it shows the ups and downs,, the steps forward, the steps backwards it takes to achieve any goal.
So - a few years after I put it on my list I got money and place sorted, after a year of trying to find a good weekend - we finally went hanggliding.

The wind changed as we were driving south. It was sad.
I’m caught up in assessments now, and can’t afford a day off. So I’m going to put this in the 2013 box. 16 months ago
hanggliding was postponed due to lack of wind… that’s sad, but we’ll try again next weekend 17 months ago
13 sleeps to go! 17 months ago
Yay looks like we are going to try and squeeze this adventure into this year :) :)
Made two bookings in case the weather is bad, one for the 14th of October, and one for the 21st of October. The guy said the weather isn’t usually bad at that time of year, so hopefully for no bad weather changes.
Yay… now back to study – this is a magnificent motivation thoguh haha 18 months ago
if we can squeeze this one into this year. It may be a bit tight as we have a lot of business planned for the next 2 months – and then I leave the country. We’ll see what we can do though :) 18 months ago
How I did it: I have a bit of a fear of heights. All I can think about when I'm up high is how falling would feel.
Although it's not a paralyzing fear... just prevents me from really enjoying the experience.
That was only halfway true with hang gliding. I embraced the fear, but went ahead and did it anyway. While I probably hugged my instructor a bit tighter than either of us would have liked, I was still able to take in the incredible views, and to truly feel like I was flying.
We learned that Chattanooga, TN is basically the epicenter of hang gliding. We booked a full weekend there, and ended up going Sunday early afternoon.
Not much else to say, but it was just fantastic. I'm very glad to have done it and checked this one off my list. Read how I did it… 19 months ago
