    Good stuff from a health blog 14 months ago

    Found the mother load of pilates/yoga exercises for the maximizing the gluteus on a cool health/fitness site tonight. A couple of days ago did mid-way “update” photos for my motivational before-and-after series on my getting in shape efforts. I was mightily motivated by this to get back on track. Yes, I am thrilled by the weight I’ve lost this year (have maintained a 20lb loss for about 3 months now, which I’m very happy about) and with fitting into my old clothes, but not so thrilled with the actual silhouette. Need to swap the characteristics of my tummy and bum. (Seem to have round and flat on backwards.)

    Time to refocus on building up shapely muscle and losing the last 10 lbs!!

    Variations on the squat:
    • the barbell squat targets your glutes and outer thighs
    • the Smith Machine squat is great if you want to build up muscle because the machine lets you add more weights than you could with free weights. This will give you a more bodacious booty.
    • the plie squat also really targets your glutes.
    And variations on the lunge:
    • the classic lunge
    • the walking lunge
    • the bench or step reverse lunge (where you balance one leg behind you on a chair or bench, then lower yourself until your thigh is parallel to the floor).
    The “good morning”:
    • Holding weights at chest level bend forward keeping legs straight, then straighten back up.

    Rotate all these moves and you’ll be apple-cheeked before you know it.

    I haven’t done ANYTHING on this goal.

    Today, I’m going to the park and doing some walking lunges. Or, at least I’ll do some plie squats while I’m brushing my teeth. I gotta get exercising if I’m going to escape my genes – and, for that matter, quit escaping my jeans!

    It’s still in need of major work, but during my pilates class yesterday, when we were doing a particular exercise, I noticed my derrier in the big mirror and I’m pretty sure, no, I’m very sure, I caught a glimpse of potential.

    Here's my aspiration 17 months ago

    There’s isn’t much (non-surgical) I can do about being flat chested… but with some hardcore workouts, a lot of squats and a healthy diet, I could enhance my rear view considerably. I aim to wear a beautiful, figure-revealing dress on my 35th birthday, and have some lovely curves to fill it out.
