I bought a plant today… A bamboo one. I let one die once… and they are supposed to be lucky… well when it died that all went out the window and I’m not one to be supertisous… but the day after I bought that plant I got a call for a job interview… so maybe if I keep this one alive things will start to turn around.. =-]

How I did it: Plants that live immersed in water don't need watering! I got a good daylight bulb for the tank and I add a bit of liquid fertilizer when I change the water, no problem. They look lovely and they keep the fish happy, too! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I officially kept a plant alive for two months! A bamboo plant at that. And I was right when that old one I had died my luck was crap and now that I bought a new one and kept it alive. I got a job, a cell phone, I'm taking my drivers test today, I've had so many good things happen to me it's crazy... Lydia is drowning in work!
I’ve had my poor little donkey tail for almost a year and it WAS doing really, really well. It looked good and was sprouting out new growth. But then I moved to a new office and the donkey tail is looking very sad. I had to cut off a lot of dead parts of my poor plant and then decided to bring it home to care for. I’m hoping a little TLC here at home will keep it alive. Fingers crossed!
Well when I graduated in 07 my teacher got all us girls in our admin class a little bamboo plant. I LOVED it. BUT I also screwed something up! and it died.. =[ I read somewhere that they are supposed to be lucky and I kinda killed it and when it died my life went like WAY down hill. I even lost my apartment. So maybe if I get another one and keep it alive things will turn around.. HAHA jk. But you never know. I had a catcus once… and my cat like chewed on it… (yea weird cat I know) but it survived that then he knocked it over and it fell out of the pot completely and it STILL survived then when we were moving all our stuff out of the apartment, I’m not sure what happened to it. I think my boyfriend tossed it out. =[ Soooo I do want to buy another small plant and see what happens.. maybe I will get another bamboo and turn my luck around ?

I have got a plant!
He’s a Cactus!
His name’s Fredrico Sanchez (I’ve probably spelt that wrong), Or Fred for short.
He’s from Mexico :3
I’m not sure what type of cactus he is (I got him from B&Q in a box saying assorted cactus. So I guess they didn’t know either.)
But he grows quite slowly (I assume so anyway, on the box it said repot him every 3 years. I have no idea if that’s slow or fast in cactus terms, but I think that’s pretty slow for plants in general).
And he’s fluffy. Yes, Fluffy. He has loads of white Fluff around him. (and he also has spikes. But if your careful you can pat him on the head)
And He’s about 7cm at the moment. He’s incredibly adorable. (I know. It’s weird to think of plants as adaorable and give them names and shit, isn’t is? I don’t usually, but I dunno, cactuses are different. They’re just too cute.)
I bought him about a week or two ago and I think I’m doing well. Because you’re only supposed to keep the soil damp (in summer) and almost dry (in winter) so he doesn’t require much watering.
(I’m actually scared I might kill him by over-watering in winter ><)
and your supposed to give him special cactus food every so often (I’ve only given him some once, but that’s because I’m paranoid to touch it ever since my mum told me about how poisonus it is (too humans.) and I don’t want permenant heart and liver damage! ( XD in other words…. I’m too lazy too feed him.))
^ and wow that’s a lot of brackets.
(sorry, I guess that was kinda of topic.)
So yeah….
Bye!

P.S: Fred looks nothing like the cactus in the photo. I’ll take a photo of him and put it up sometime, but until then I just got a random cactus…

I suck at keeping plants alive.
I’ve killed, like… 20 plants probably.
At the moment there’s a pot of soil on my widow sill reminding me about my last plant.
I don’t really remember what it was called (something fancy and italian-sounding) but it was very small and sort of… bushy. It was like a big green sprwl with about 10 little purple flowers.
I did okay at first, especially since it didn’t seem to need much water (I watered it like… once every 3 days, and ocassionally forgot to water it for a week or two. But it still lived.)
But I slowly began to forget about it… and the leaves started to go brown.
I did try to save it. I started giving it plant food. (which I later found out probably made it worse because it wasn’t actually plant food, but special preserving liquid for but flowers XD)
Until eventually it just turned into a brown scribble. (at least, it looked like one. Like a 3D scribble ><)
But I had pretty much forgotten about it so I kept forgetting to take it out my room and now it has actually decomposed. XD
At least the soil will probably be good for another plant.
....hold on, doesn’t that mean plants are carnivores?
XD Seriously though, they use other dead plants for food and nutrients and whatever.
Anyway, the longest I’ve ever kept a plant alive for is 3 months. It was a little fern (I <3 ferns ^^) and it was supposed to go pink in the summer (not that I ever got to see it go fully pink because it died before summer. The tips of the leaves went pink in spring though.)
I was Actually doing pretty well with it, but then it started to getting too big for it’s pot, and because my mum was repotting our aloe vera (my mum has tons of plants)So I decided to try and repot the fern. Only I did it by myself. And apparently ferns are sensitive to repotting. Especially at that time of year (or something like that.)
So, even though I kept watering it and everything, it slowly died. XD
I shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near plants.
XD
I need to get a plant first. Once I have one I’ll write another entry…

Lydia is drowning in work!
I’m going to put my money where my mouth is and go out and get myself a pretty little houseplant and container this weekend. I think I’ll take my plant to work so I won’t neglect it too much…and so it’s safe from my kitties! Maybe I can turn my black thumbs green….or at least gray!! :)
Lydia is drowning in work!
I am completely incapable of keeping a plant alive. I’ve tried in the past, but I always fail. I should just give it up and understand that I have black thumbs….that I am a murderer of plants. But I don’t want to throw in the towel just yet. Even though I’ve managed to kill a cactus, I want to try again. I wonder who my next victim will be?
tommorow. when I am out and stick it in my office. time to really see if I can do this one.
I kill most plants.
Snoop sent me the most beautiful, 4 ft., orchid.
I enjoyed it for a couple weeks and saw it starting to die. Someone told me a guy in the office loved orchids, collected them, and would know how to take care of it and I should ask for advice…
Instead I just moved it to his office and I’ll be able to enjoy it for a long time, alive, when I visit ;)
