Not for the next five months 6 months ago

I’ve been working for 4 years now and this is the first year I really started saving.

The bad news is, because i didn’t think of saving sooner, I have unfinished loans which are causing me to work extra hard to complete this goal.

The good news is, i am saving and might be able to really save more on October, when one of my really big loans complete.

I haven’t increased my loans and i haven’t used my credit cards which is good. I am also trying really hard to follow my budget. Sometimes though, I’m starting to think I’m depriving myself too much. I mean, yes, I still spend. But it’s been a long time since I bought a new pair of jeans for myself.

I guess this is the price I have to pay for being careless all these years.

Although I am being a little thrifty, I like seeing my savings increase little by little each month.
Still gives me a sense of accomplishment so I still think all this hard work is worth it!

If i can only fast forward to 6 months from now so i can really start saving a lot!

Harder than I thought 7 months ago

Well, It’s harder than I thought. First of all, I just forecasted my expenses for this month and I am a thousand pesos SHORT. I know where it’s from. It’s from the unexpected increase of my TAX this pay period. WHY?? And because I had an extra 500 to be automatically deducted when I increased my savings to 6.3%.
I’m not happy about this. No matter where I cut back on I can’t really get an extra 1000 pesos. So I’ve decided that I’m not going to take a loan because I hate loans but I have to delay payment to my broadband connection, which is a little more than 1000 pesos.
The happy part is next month is my bonus! yey! I’ll have money to save, to pay debt, to pay my broadband, to pay my dad back for the money I am planning to borrow end of the month for my insurance. basically, this is where all is going to go although I am torn with saving the money or just putting everything in my debt so I have to pay a little less next month.

Ok. I need some money for myself at least so I can buy a new pair of slacks. Please? It all depends on my TAXES!

Why this is hard 8 months ago

Well, I just requested for my contribution to increase at 6.3% from 5%. I also finally figured out why this is kinda of hard for me to do even with all the cut backs i made and all the budgeting.
I just computed my debt and it’s eating up 32% of my gross income. I can’t believe it’s that high. this is unacceptable. I’m not giving this up and i know i can do this.

I need to get rid of my debts faster if i want to save sooner.

slow and steady 8 months ago

well, i just received my payslip and my salary deduction is now upto 5%. i did feel this change a bit today because i used my credit card for some of the bathing clothes i bought for our vacation. they are due early next month so i paid up some of it and will pay the rest end of month. i felt that i could have used the extra cash that was deducted from me to pay more but then i SHOULDn’t be using my Credit card in the first place. lol.

But i’m still good. i’m not paying any interests and as per my budget plan which is SO helpful to me, I will be able to pay all my debts on time. in fact next month, i’m looking to save an extra 7.5% and put it in the bank!

if i meet this projection, i’ll be reassessing my contribution and maybe have it become 7.5% on May. :)

Change in Contribution Approved 9 months ago

Well, i just checked the status of my application to change my salary deduction savings from 3.7% to 5% and it is now approved. Change will start on March 15. I am sooo happy. I’m another step closer to achieving this goal. I know i can’t do it in an instant because i’m still paying debts and need to do this one step at a time. 43things really helps me track my goals! I’m going to check back in a month and see if i can accommodate another increase in my contribution. yey!

Setting mg Targets 9 months ago

Well, mainly because I am still paying off my debt, I can’t save that much NOW but I’m planning to by April. I really am. Currently, I’ve set to save 3.7% a month by salary deduction and have applied for an increase in my deduction to 5%
I’m hoping that by April I would start saving 7.5% monthly. And by June, I’ll be able to save 10%. I’m taking all these slowly because I’m not used to drastically changing my lifestyle within one day. I’m cutting costs and expenses gradually so I won’t be shocked. I’ve already started a budget plan but I have not included this goal! I really hope I can do this!

i would really like to do this and it saves me a lot of money.

Just try and create a budget around the money you have AFTER the 10% is taken out. So before you pay anything else, pay yourself that savings.

It’ll come in handy one day, trust me…

maybe more than just 10%. :D

Savings Debit Setup for the 08/07/2006 for £350.00 3 years ago

I’ve setup a savings debit of £200.00 to go into my isa holding account for the 08th of the month. The day that i get paid. I’m really exicited about working on this goal and proactively investing in my future. What do i want to have saved by the end of the year? Well i would say i need to have £5000.00 at least in savings.

How is this possible to do on my salary? The answer would be to invest £100.00 per month and save £250.00 in a high interest account. I would also need to gain 6 clients for my marketing business at £550.00. I feel that this is a reasonable and realistic target based on my experience and look forward to achieving this!
