I went to the optometrist today! Whoooo! My prescriptionhad changed it turns out, and the doctor convinced me to try contacts again. They’ll be ready in a week. I am actually excited!
How I did it: How I did it? Honestly? I got a job with a company that provides vision coverage :-( I had been going around like a blind mole for almost a year. The glasses that I had weren't the right prescription, and then I lost them. Honestly before I got this job I was trying to save up to go -- I could only put away about $5 a month for it because my other "fund" was to see the dentist, which I needed even more.
Bottom line: if you're poor, save save save -- I would have been able to go eventually. Otherwise, it is really worth it to 1) graduate college and do away with those expenses and 2) get a full time job so you aren't so #@$*%! poor
And that is how I did it :)
Resources: I had no idea which optometrist to go to, so I decided in the most shallow way possible: I picked a place I remembered passing by one day that *looked fancy*. Really, this place is right downtown and is oh-so swanky looking. I didn't quite remember the name so I googled what I thought it was and found the right name easily. I used Google Maps then, and got the address and phone # and I called and made my appointment :-)

I just called to make an appointment! I have been putting this off FOREVER. Maybe I will be able to get glasses now. I technically am not allowed to drive without them. Oops. Time to stop endangering lives when I go to work. Yeah, that might be good. :-( But I have an appointment now so GO ME!
I should be able to do this mid-September since I’ll have received two paychecks by then. Yay new job! With a current eye exam will probably come new contacts at some point. Hmm.
she said i need to stop sleeping in my contacts (an admittedly bad habit i have), because my eyes are not getting enough oxygen and it shows. if i keep it up i could be susceptible to scarring eye sores – scary and not good.
i can still wear contacts, she said, but i need to give my eyes a break from them daily. she kind of freaked me out. glasses-time!
and glasses are really annoying.
i finally got an appointment for this wednesday. super early. wonderful.
now, to make that awful dentist appointment…

I’m nearsighted. Soon I will drag my best friend around and make her help me find frames because all of them made my face look weird.
Except for the numb eyeball thing, it wasn’t bad at all. That part was really freaky and stressed me out, the rest of it was easy peasy.
My vision is 20/25, which is great
because I thought it would be alot worse.
The doctor said my eyes were healthy;
I’m very happy with that :D
The doctor confirmed that I shouldn’t need glasses until my late 30s, and even then, only for reading :)
