I recently moved in with my sister in law, and my partner. We have a huge bookcase with loads of interesting-looking books. I’d like to get through them all, and the ones on language especially because I want to be polylingual.

I made an inventory of the books that I have now, so I’ll tick them off as I go along.

I’m putting this to the back of my to-do goal-list, as I need to concentrate on more important things. I hope that I will keep reading in my leisure time, but the things I need to focus on are more important.

just finished ... 15 months ago

“The Glass Castle” by Jeannette Walls. Highly recommended. I’m starting to get a grasp of what makes a good memoir.

books i've read but haven't listed ... 15 months ago

here’s a list of books i’ve read since my last update.

“what’s so amazing about grace” by philip yancey. a must read.

“a ragamuffin gospel” by brennan manning. companion to yancey’s “grace”, i say. another must read.

“blue like jazz” by don miller. and another must read.

    “blink” by malcolm gladwell.

“way of the peaceful warrior” by dan millman.

“house of leaves” by alice sebold. which is being made into a movie by the peter jackson squad. can’t wait. i shared this book with some other friends and they couldn’t put it down. a friend of mine read it in four days. another in one. my, they’re good.

“teacher man” by frank mccourt. after the third book i grew weary of his self-deprecating tone. i mean, get a life, won’t ya? ;)

i’d still read the next book.

“quit digging your grave with a knife and fork” by mike huckabee. for motivation for my diet.

“the difference maker” by john c. maxwell. for motivation in general. given by a friend.

“adrift” by steven callahan, lost at sea for 76 days. dorados, yum.

    Big Library 17 months ago

My dad retired and left me his library of books, which is now combined with my library. I have only vaguely counted, but it’s over 1000 books. I have some work to do. I want to read each book, or get rid of the book. Some are purely reference books, so I will probably not count those in my reading goal.

Can't stop buying 18 months ago

I have tons of books, but I never read them. I’d really like to devote more time to reading, especially the classics.

Christmas reading list 23 months ago

    Finish: Getting to Maybe
Start and finish: Managers not MBAs, Long Day’s Journey into Night, Patagonia (idea fuel)
    Start: War and Peace

    Failed! 2 years ago

I got further on the Getting Things Done and I got started on the Getting To Maybe but nowhere with anything else.

I have to concentrate on my school reading, anyway.

BUT this weekend is a long weekend, so that means I have one day to do extra work and leisure reading and maybe a hike with my guy. If he likes the idea of an overnight getaway. I do.
